MV4 wheels soon to be for sale

Afternoon all, I'm just canvassing opinion as to whether these wheels would be of interest on this forum before I waste too much time photographing etc for a proper advert as they are in Somerset and rather remote from me.

They are a staggered set of style 225 MV4s which my sister bought as a stop gap while her own (E92 330i) wheels were refurbed. They were bought as refurbed but one of them has been kerbed since ! so, 3 good and one not so good. Not sure what the tyres on them are but probably nothing special (Non runflats I'm told)

Sizes are 2 of 8x19 ET37 and 2 of 9x19 ET39. From what I can see they would fit an E85/6 with a bit more projection than standard (11mm ?).

If there is likely to be any interest I'll do a proper description, photos and price etc.

Thanks.

They look well on a Z4.

If any help there was a recent post of a new members car with them on

Thanks for the response and I agree though I think I still like the MV2 better. I was briefly tempted myself, however I'm also trying to make my car more comfortable rather than less ! and I will be putting it up for sale again in the spring so they would be an unnecessary expense.

I’m looking for a 2nd set of wheels for my E85 and would be interested in MV4s. What price did you have in mind?

Thanks

Alex

Alex - I will get my sister to take some photos and see how much she wants for them. I know she paid £600 or so - genuine wheels just refurbed with reasonable tyres (although I don't know what they are as yet). As said one has since been damaged so you would have to factor in the cost of a further refurb of that one. I'll get back to you as soon as I have more info and put it in the Marketplace section.

Golfgeezer - many thanks for that, they do look very good. If they don't sell I might be tempted after all.....

Hi there,

Are these wheels still for sale?

I'm interested in buying the two rear wheels if that works....

Cheers,
Tarn

Hi Tarn, bit of a sad story I'm afraid. I now have the wheels back with me and have cleaned them off. I discovered that one of the rears has a welded crack, but the weld has a hairline crack in it. Although the tyre does seem to hold air initially, it goes down after a couple of weeks. I discussed with a wheel refurbisher last week and they will not re-weld old cracks - you may have seen on here another discussion as to why - the alloy gets affected by the heat and become more brittle. Currently then I have 1 perfect rear, 1 rear with a very tiny scuff but with the crack, 2 fronts, one badly kerbed, one slightly kerbed. All have different "no name" (? Chinese) tyres but with good treads ! If I can find a decent rear to replace the cracked one I'll refurb the fronts and have a good complete set to sell. If not I'll sell them individually for what I can get.

Hi SpriteRacer,

Thanks for coming back to me! ahhh it sounds like a bit of a mission, i've come across many many rear MV4's that have had repairs... tbh im not sure why im so determined to get a set of these on my car knowing they'll probs get damaged shortly after!! However, I've been sitting on a front pair of wheels that have needed the rears to complete the set for ages.. trying to just tie that knot up!

If you'd consider getting rid of the 1 good rear by itself. again i'd be interested... one step closer to completing my set :)

Cheers!
T

Hi Tarn, I'll hang on a bit yet and see what I can find as it seem a pity to break up a set. I'll let you know if anything changes.
