MV3 alloys on E85 Z4

I know these were never a standard fitment, but is there a reason why nobody ever seems to put these on a Z4?! I can't make up my mind if I prefer the MV2s or MV3s.

I have 108s at the moment but must be the only person ever to dislike them, so am looking at changing to an alternative, especially as they are in dire need of a refurb.

Has anyone used FA Wheels in North London? Am thinking about doing a wheel swap...

Genuine MV3s aren't the most suitable offset for an e85 Z4 which is probably why they're rare.

MV1/MV2/108s etc are all et47(f) & et50(r) - i.e. e46 and e85 wheels are largely interchangeable

MV3s (aka 189s) are et34(f) & et37(r) and are designed for the e90, etc.

So basically they'll stick out 13mm further front and rear than your 108s which is probably OK I'd guess (but don't take that as 100% correct!). I've never been a fan of MV2s, much prefer the older MV1s or the newer MV3s (which I have on my e90).

in my recent wheel quest i chased after MV3,s & MV4,s to replace my MV2's , even considered MV1's .
being honest i think any will suit but the 3,s would be my personal choice of the four .

I didn't know about the offset - thanks! That probably explains it. And I didn't even know MV4s existed (wish I didn't now...). I'm just looking forward to owning a set of a wheels that don't require extreme pampering in order for them not to corrode!

http://felgenkatalog.auto-treff.com/ - fill yer boots on there, great guide to all the BMW wheel models available inc offset figures, etc.

MV4's are 19" so I'd think twice about sticking them on a Z4, but each to their own. There's been issues with cracking MV4s on the e90 so perhaps worth avoiding even though they look terrific.

MV3's in shadow chrome are absolutely gorgeous, sure there is n e85 with a set fitted on here

Great link, thanks Ally. I'll probably go for some MV2s (I know, how boring!) unless I fall head over heels for some MV3s...

I cycled past an e85 in Glasgow a couple of weeks ago and it had MV3s on it. I didn't think it would work as they are just so synonymous with the e90 but it looked okay.

When I had my e90 I bought a set of reps from an eBay shop. They were staggered fittment with OEM offsets and came with all badges and Falken tyres fitted all for under ยฃ500. They were actually better quality than the OEM ones. I've still got the sellers details I think.

A 13mm wider stance on your Z will look great, and not stick out the arches. I am with sars, shadow chrome MV3s all the way

Mmmmmm. They would look great on my car with c/f centre caps

That's what I wanted for winter wheels for my e90 but I couldn't find a set at a sensible price, hence opted for 189's instead - just had them powdercoated in a very similar colour to the above...

Can I add MV1s back into the debate - much prefer these as they have a bit of 3d to them unlike the MV2s.

Hi, New to the z4 scene. I just bought some mv3 off a 330 m sport 18inch. Will these be ok for an 2003 E85. Any advice is much appreciated.

Hi there Dean'o. Yes, MV3s will be absolutely fine. I've had them on my E85 for years. The front/rear offsets of ET34/37 place the wheels a little further out in the arches and improve the stance without the need for spacers  20210830_085316.jpg20210830_091147.jpg

Hi dean'o
I am no wheel expert but based on many other threads my understanding is that these will do very nicely, in fact they are what i have been looking for myself !!
