MV2 or 108 alloys

My car is a 2006 and came with the staggered MV2s. I really like the softer appearance of the 108 as I think they suit the lines of the car better.

Are there any issues to be aware of with 108 over and above the normal stuff. ie are they more susceptible to cracks or damage by pot holes?

Both those wheels are exactly the same sizes and offsets, but the MV2s are a b*gger to clean! Although the 108s tend to need a refurb more often because the lacquer lifts around the bolt heads.

I had MV2s on my 1st Coupe and 108s on my 2nd and ran both for around 8K miles with OE Bridgestone run-flats and never had any carcking or other damage.

Although my nephew had to get a rear MV2 welded recently on his E46 Touring with non-runfalts so it can happen.

I wanted something different so I swapped the 108s on my 2nd Coupe while they were still in good condition for a set of 295s (E89 wheels) I bought on here. They still have the 5 spoke look, but there aren't too many of them about and they are NLA. Although 19" Style 230s from anE9* 3 Series look exactly the same.

You could always go for something completely different though!

Ive never been a fan of 108s but they do seem to have plenty, mv2 all day for me if i was only choosing between the two, they might be a bit of a pita to clean but they are a classic wheel imho

I prefer the look of 108’s on E85’s over MV2’s.

Only issue with 108’s is corroding, it’s mainly on the rim though if clear lacquered, which is how I prefer (factory).

Powder coating the barrel as well as the spokes deals with this though if you prefer.

Thank you fellas for a very informative response. I will consider my options. Looking at wheels from Simon Ireland.
