Mustang 09-14 convertible pump and motor

Just found out the pump and motor from a Mustang 2009 to 2014 can be used on the z4's and looks like it's slightly faster as well.

Woah I never knew about this. Just seen some videos on YouTube of how quickly the roof goes. I think I’ve found me next mod.

This is good to Know. As well as the BMW Mini roof motors (check dates & models) being compatible as well.

Out of curiosity, If any of you had to replace your motor, would you go with the mustang motor; or is that sacrilege?

it is faster and a 12v motor, should be a 12v motor.

But then again, can the rest of the system handle the increased speed? Long term, does it create too much pressure for the seals in the hydraulic cylinder?

I would be interested to see what people think?

Great question. I myself have not used it. Personally, I am reviving my motor that was submerged in water like rest of the e85. I am in no rush in getting the top working. I bought a $100 motor and pretty disappointed with the build quality (you get what you paid for lol).

Your E85 was submerged? Like in a flood?

[/quote] :D the top motor that's in between the driver's seat and the rear tire.

I agree with you. Although it will work, it is bigger and designed to lift a lot more weight than a Z's top. This means it is running at a higher PSI than a BMW z4 and this increase can't be good, long term, for the rubber seals in the hinge lifters.
