............Still trying to get used to it after one week. Three times I have parked only to realise that I have gone over the pavement kerb and been fortunate not to have scarped the underneath.

I guess it is going to happen! Perhaps the answer is to reverse into spaces everywhere and make use of those rear pdc's which should of course be on the front...............

Underneath or kerbed alloys first I wonder ?

iv come from a 3 series coupé so the Z4 is tiny compared to what i was use to, i tend to overcompensate thinking i wont fit in spaces i easily can! rather that i suppose that scuffing the bumper! :cry:

but the bonnet is much longer, which is the issue here.
 
You'll get used to it :) And look on the bright side, it's awesome driving along while being able to (almost) see the engine working.

Unfortunately other people don't get used to it :( I've got two scrapes in as many months on my bumper from people parallel parking into my car rather than the space in front of it.
 
Sadly I am now smitten with looking for those quiet/distant car park bays where no one else can be bothered to park!!
 
Just think of it as an enlargement, you will get used to it just be carefull at first. :)

You think, the Z is only about 15cm longer than a ford fiesta and so i find mine easy to park, though tall kerbs scare the hell out of me!!
 
The wheels is what I sweat the most. I just paid a bunch of $$$$$$ to put those after market buggers on. I figure I can really ease into a space and hear the bumper before I do much damage and if I do it is cheaper to fix. The wheel against the curb is another story - I figure any sickening sound and its all over and the fat lady will be singing. :headbang:
 
the first time I took my car to the dealership, it came out with a nice piece of white paint on its nose (and the walls at BMW happen to be white). needless to say as soon as I noticed it , unfortunately not till that afternoon I took it straight back. but ended up having to pay half of the repair as I couldn't prove it was them by that time!

But i reverse park 9/10 times as the reverse sensors tell me when to stop, cant see exactly how far the nose is from that tear jerking gutter in front of me :cry:

Also I do hate with a passion center parks, you have to put your nose 1/2 way out onto the street, before you can see around that whopping huge 4wd parked next to you, just hoping that no cars happen to be there before you can see them!
 
my drive is on a hill, and i need to leave room for other cars to get on, quite a few times ive nudged the garage door :oops:
 
It takes time but I think I have the dimensions sussed out now.... To be able to park within a cm of the front bumper without contact.

The first few weeks I would put my headlights on when parking close to things infront... You can use the reflection as a guide to the distance infront of you.

@ OP I nosed into a pub parking space only to "nudge" the flower box, still getting used to the massive nose after the 3 series. I generally reverse in everywhere now, get out and find I have at least 2 feet. :oops:

Come back PDC! all is forgiven!
