Must not be charging enough board !

The first thing I did when I got my first pay cheque was buy my gran a television ( she was still renting a pre-remote control one for £10 a month in 1994) as she paid for my car insurance when I got my first car to get to my saturday job (cough - and Reading Festival - cough)
And the second pay cheque got my mum a new TV, as she was doing the same.
I paid half my wages to my mum, however much I was earning from my £12 a day Saturday job, to leaving when I was on £150 a week.
There were the odd occasions I was let off this, when "Stuff" happened - car failed, tyres, a holiday etc.
Apart from that I remember being a particularly horrible teenager.

I would "suggest" that any son/daughter pays about say 25% of their net wage even if you didn't really need it as it gets them used to paying bills/ budgetting for the time when they do fly the nest, and if you stuff the money in a separate account and they come cap in hand for help with a mortgage deposit you could then give them a lump sum back......... or treat yourself :D

p.s I was paying £2.50 a week many years ago but I was only getting £9 a week .

The aforementioned amount I was paying was equal to about 30% of my monthly wage at the time :)
