music and cars

Love the old stuff still. The only "recent" metal album i bought was The Union Underground,An Education In Rebellion. That was a phenomenal album but it was 12 years ago.

Yeh i like Journey, Whitesnake and a lot of modern stuff too including dance. Very varied music on my phone much to my daughters annoyance. She thinks i am continuing my "mid life crisis" along with buying the Zed. :D
Just booked tickets for MEN Arena for Journey and Whitesnake, taking the neanderthol ( possible spelling mistake)18 yr old son who is into his rock music, one of the few occasions that we actually communicate!

Trance and house. Used to DJ so mainly listen to my own mix sets.

Inspirations include
Armin van Buuren
Sean Tyas
Paul van Dyk
Eric Morillo

Nearly all genres on my iPod - classical, pop, rock, metal, rap.... I have around 200 gigs (pun intended) of tracks on my laptop, vinyls hermetically stored in the attic, CDs in the cupboard. My iPhone is linked in to the Intravee and has a rotating selection from the laptop, and the album of choice reflects my mood and driving style at the time...

Tapatalking...

Big metal/punk fan here. I bought my first 'Pistols record when I was 8 and had to hide it under my bed as my Dad refused to have their records in the house! Bands I love include (but not limited to):

Sex Pistols, Exploited, GBH, Clash, Sham 69, Dead Kennedys, Henry Rollins, Black Flag, Fugazi, Youth of Today, Circle Jerks, Discharge, F***** Up, Suicidal Tendencies, Motorhead, Slayer, Korn, Rammstein, ACDC, Metallica, Soulfly, Sepultura, Cavalera Conspiracy, Amen, early Linkin Park, Marilyn Manson, Napalm Death, Slipknot, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple etc.

I also listen to a lot more sedate stuff now I'm getting old and love classical, opera, indie, some hip-hop.

U2, Queen, Bon Jovi, Phil Collins, Genesis etc.

Always land on Joe Satriani though!

When in Orlando in Sept I saw Dominic Gaudious at Downtown Disney and bought his CD's. He sounds like Satriani, but also plays digerido, although not Rolf Harris style!

Currently switching between these two CDs in the Z:

new order,the bunnymen ,stranglers , fleetwood mac . . . . . timeless for me
as for album's i couldn't live without ? the joshua tree probably top's the list

Used to work as a mobile dj, still work as a professional pianist (not the day job- just extra pocket money  )

So I like everything really tbh, but have a great knowledge of stuff before my time.

Confess to being a Springsteen fan (not particularly common amongst 25 year olds lol) but as a musician I admire his song writing skills. Saw him in Cardiff few years back, more impressive than numerous others I've seen live including coldplay, the who, red hot chilli peppers, and various others.

So, what's the most unusual or unexpected music on your generic digital media players?

I'll start with this one

I buy CDs, rarely downloads as I too like the sleeve notes etc. but the first thing I do is rip them to mp3 and stick them on the iPod and home server

You forgot to write "Bah Humbug"! :D

Getting back to the OP's question - yes I too love metal music.

I've had a copy of Ozzy Osbourne's Blizzard of Oz in every car I've owned. Rhandy Rhoads just f***ing rocks man!

For me there hasn't been any real music produced since about 1987. But then again I've owned 3 Capris and an Opel Manta, still wear dealers with segs in, have a Scalextric and would marry Debbie Harry tomorrow if she knocked on the door! (in fact I'm keeping a special bottle of Hai Karate to one side just in case she turns up).

got a fair bit of Led Zep, Floyd, Genesis plus lots of blues on the ipod like good guitar stuff and have been listening to Joe Bonamassa lately and man can he play.

i've been listening to a reggae compilation i downloaded

UB40 Shaggy Gypstian Bob Marley Johnny Nash Eddy Grant etc .. soothing driving

I lke all sorts, from 1970's heavy metal ( Led Zep, Deep Purple etc), to 70's funk ( got loads of 12" vinyl ) ,Fleetwod Mac,Level 42,through to Greenday currently in my CD player. Can't stand country music and modern club shite and most rap, though I quite like some of Eminem's stuff.Wierd.
