Mudflaps

So I don't know what to do. The mudflaps are all a bit broken and look awful. Can't get replacements from BMW. Wouldn't mind taking them off but it will leave holes in the wheel arch where the self tappers have been.
Anyone taken them off?
How did you plug the holes?
Does it look awful?

There are no push clips or screws in the rear wheel arches apart from mud flap screws. Which is why removing the mudflaps is not straight forward.
