Mud Flaps?

I'm still unsure how they will look on Deep Sea Blue. I'm sure they would look fine painted to match, but that won't be cheap.

Are they paintable? If so I might consider them for my (yet to be collected) DSB 35is.

I imagine they can be painted but would need a plasticiser beforehand so the paint doesn't crack or flake off. I would imagine though the paint would just chip off and look a mess after a while?

Mud flaps are okay on off-road vehicles. I rather have stone chips on my Zed. They completely ruin the look of the car :sick2: .

Yes, but not with a rattle can. Need to find a pro that knows what they are doing. One method is to spray an adhesion promoter followed by a surfacer or primer. Base coat and clear go on top of that. There are additives too. I'm not up to date on the latest methods.

I would only have the back side painted and leave the tyre side black.

That is how the Mazda ones are. See photos here:

A bit of an OTT statement there, how on earth do they completely ruin the car? If you don't like them fair doo's but they certainly don't ruin it

I accept chipped paintwork is unavoidable but there is nothing worse to my eyes than chipped and peppered sills, just makes a car look scruffy and uncared for.

Still each and to their own

Have you ever seen super sports cars, e.g. Ferrari, Aston Martin, with mud flaps (not even as a factory optional accessory)? I know Zed is not super sports car, but still a sports car. Sports cars should not have mud flaps :D .

But I would like a Zed that stays in good nick over my ownership, but thats me, I like flaps :D

I still can't get over how mud flaps are such a big talking point on the E89....drive the car, enjoy it.....and don't worry too much about a stone chip here or there.....
