Much difference between 2004 & 2008????

From what I’ve read, the pre-facelift and post-facelift models use different LCM - light control modules, so it’s not just a case of switching lights from the facelift model to an early car
 
Bumper is a direct swap except ///M style
Washers the same
Fog lights a direct wiring swap
Headlights as above new LCM but existing can be reprogrammed or some wiring mods. Run search on this point for details
 
The subtle facelift differences will save you a stack of cash in mods

All I can say is lots more grunt from the Si. Exterior changes are a personal choice some like some don't.
And I have heard the 6auto gives better economy.
Apart from that they are both good cars.

I tried both and they feel like different cars, for me the 2009 was more refined and comfortable and the feedback from the steering was better. But it didn't feel as exciting. That said it was a 2.3 and the E85s I had driven were mainly 3.0L. I recommend you drive both and draw your own conclusions, matters such as this tend to be subjective.

I bought a face lift 3.0 Si Manual in the end off a forum member and have done 2 Zedfests in it since asking. :driving:

The facelift cars certainly feature less tramlining (like for like comparison both with non-RFTs), not quite sure how that was achieved. The extra sound insulation in the doors is a big improvement, I think that interior quality also was stepped up a notch.

There's a notable difference between the 3.0i and 3.0Si, but both are stonking lumps imo.

I prefer the looks and the tango-ness of the pre-facelift cars but have no doubt that the later vehicles are better.
