Mtech Discs, which colour coating

As it says in the title although Gold = NO CHANCE

So the options are Black or Silver, I have 107elipsoids which are sort of normal alloy colour but with a sparkle in the powder coat.

Opinions please

I've just ordered silver. The disc is very visible in my alloys so thought silver will blend in with the silver alloy.

the pad coverage rubs off so there's not much left. And it's hardly a special coating, you could paint them yourself cheaper I reckon! Can't go wrong with silver, but black will also work.

^+1 rubs of the pad area after a few miles.
Rest will rust soon so either don't bother spending the extra, or be ready to paint them yourself in a few months

I've not fitted mine, but if they do MTEC will find themselves with a request for a refund of the coating cost.

Just get Pagid from ECP, they are factory coated including right inside the vanes. It's a silver finish, more matt than gloss.

The MTEC grooves and drilled holes have the appearance of a cheap after machine job, which they are. Real high performance discs look way better.

Don't bother with mtec. Replaced my fronts after 9 months due to severe warping and the silver coating looked terrible after a while as it starts to rust.

Pagid discs seem better and the silver coating is lasting well so far.

Thanks, that seems a bit odd that they started to warp, bit of a shame I'm now being put off Mtech as I quite fancied the grooved and drilled look :(

Fitted Pagid all round on a mates CRV and was impressed by the look and the coating so I may as well go for them I suppose if the Mtech are really that bad.

Thanks for all your comments

Fitted Mtechs 2 years ago (drilled and slotted) .. Never had any issues with warping or finish :)

Thanks,

Now I really don't know what to do

It's a day off, fair weather car for me so don't do loads of miles, might give the Mtech's a go, after all if I'd of joined the forum before buying my Z I would of probably never bought it

Thanks guys, Silver coated drilled and grooved discs it is

I just fitted ATE discs from ECP which are coated over the whole disc. The coating obviously gets stripped from the pad contact area.

First impressions are good but I don't expect the coating to last forever but time will tell. Not drilled though so maybe ignore everything I just wrote!!

i did all 4 discs and have the silver coating. looks great on all the bits that the pad hasnt worn especially the rears which have a large area visible in the center. cant comment on the warping issue but i would say that they feel great when used but then so would any new disc.

if you dont like the groved/dimples look then chose the option to not have it. its all down to personal preference anyway.

I have come across mtec stuff in many different places and the reviews are always more positive than not

Thanks again guys,

Definitely going to order the Mtech's in silver, drilled & grooved, I take it that the Mtech pads are ok for everyday stuff ?

I got mintex pads when I ordered front & rear discs from mtec & great price if I remember. I phoned them & mentioned the forum gave me a deal. £190 for full set I think delivered.
