MSport Front Bumper Help

Need some help...

I have a 2009 35i , just swooped the grills for black ones and it is looking better, but really want to add the Msport front bumper to finish it off.

Anybody know exactly what parts I need, what parts can be used from the old bumper. Is it better to buy 2nd hand one and pay for any repair work or buy brand new...seem to struggle to find complete 2nd hand bumpers.

Also any recommendations on where to get the work done in the Derby area?

Thanks
Chris

Don't know exactly but try comparing on realoem :)
Msport - http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=LM73-USA-05-2009-E89-BMW-Z4_35i&diagId=51_7325

You'll be able to find 2nd hand bumpers very cheap compared to new. They will need a little work and you'll also need to find the lower grille inserts where needed. You'll also need new clips to attach the bumper and also the air intake piping is different so you'll need those too.

Once complete then painted (which is the larger issue to ensure flake match if your car is metallic) then you can fit with relative ease.

I've looked at this myself but as my car is black it's not such a dramatic change. A car with a lighter colour however would look dramatically different.

looking at this conversion myself , would be interested in costing buying the new parts

Also seen a lot of bumpers on ebay , slightly concerned at the costs involved putting a bumper right v buying new

Anyone done the conversion on here ? , any idea of costs for the new bits ?

I looked into this a couple of years ago and actually have an M-Sport front bumper (which just needs paint) from a breakers in the shed ready to fit to our Z4. Still deciding whether to keep or sell our 35i, if we decide to keep it for another year I'll definitely get the M-Sport bumper fitted.

Please double check on real OEM though as advised above :)

PM me if you want the spreadsheet I put together with all the details comparing the 35i vs 35is front bumper part numbers.

Thanks for the info...

Do you know if the towing eye from the old bumper (non msport) is interchangeable with the msport one?
Same with PDC sensor mounts?

Thanks

Yes, when I researched this before using the data on Real OEM both the standard and M-Sport 35i had the same part numbers listed for the towing eye. Not 100% sure about the PDC sensor mounts, the part number above for the PDS sensor mounts is listed for vehicles with the M aerodynamics package, but from my old notes I couldn't see the same part number listed for the non M-Sport. Would need to check the PNs and pictures on Real OEM.

I just did this mod on my 2011

Parts ordered were:
Bumper 51-11-7-842-466
left grid 51-11-8-038-091
right grid 51-11-8-038-093
center grid 51-11-7-903-744
PDC mounts 51-11-7-844-395
tow hook cover 51-11-8-048-042
air duct left 51-74-7-903-728
air duct right 51-74-7-903-729
air duct center 51-74-7-903-730
pressure lip left 51-62-8-038-997
pressure lip right 51-62-8-038-998
Expanding rivets (4) 51-74-7-192-197

Don't know if you have the washer covers but they can be used from your stock bumper, as can the the kidney grills, roundel, bumper mounts and side reflectors

very nice ! can you advise on the total price of the parts , and then the price of painting please

Thanks for all the help guys...

I am currently having this done as we speak.

Cost so far are:

- Bumper £150
- Additional Parts £125
- Prep, Spray and fit £300

Total £575

No idea if I got a good deal on the prep, spray and finish but it was a price I was happy to pay. Also added a set of 326, which suit the car so well! Will post pics once I get it back.
