MRI scan

Had an MRI scan today...what a weird thing. Was in for about 20 mins with all sorts of noises going on. I half expected a microwave ding when I was done :D

Horrible machines - I've had several and hated each one

What did you go in for?

One of my many passport photos - #Prolapsed_Disc

Yeah. It's like being in a pipe. You can feel the sides on your shoulders and the roof is too close to focus on, and your head is held in a 'silence of the lambs' cage. Must admit I dozed off! :P

I had my head examined (yes, I know :D ).

Got music as well whilst the machine was doing its bits.

Was for sinus problem checking for me.

Can't remember if it was an MRI or CT scan but I had to place my arms above my head for at least half an hour which seemed to cut off most of their blood supply.
That was bloomin painful, by the end I had to ask the nurse to help me move my arms back down, they were numb, then awful pins and needles.

I don't mind the small space and loud noises, there are certainly worse tests to go through :|

That's those sports seats you've got :D
No nothing serious just got a possible problem with pressure on the optic nerve on one of my eyes. After 20 mins in the cooker they pulled me out injected some dye into me and put me back in for another 8 mins. I must admit it felt quite relaxing.

I had one about three years ago,at the time I was having severe stomach pains. The problem turned out to be my gall bladder was goosed.
Not a nice experience if don't like enclosed places.

My experience with an MRI was very strange. I have never been claustrophobic. In fact. The wife and I went on a spelunking tour in a cave system in South Dakota. We were under ground crawling through very tight spaces for 8 hours. We had all the gear. Hard hats, elbow & knee pads, Water drip carbide lamps. It was great fun. Fast forward about 15 years. I had to have an MRI on my inner ears. Without any hesitation I got into the tube. About 30 seconds later I had this strange feeling of panic. And requested quite vigorously that they get me out of this F*****g machine. I was shocked at my reaction. The doctor was nice about it. And explained that can sometimes happen. As you are sick and worried about what might be found. And the mind being what it is. Goes into overdrive. Yet as a motorcyclist. I have zero issues strapping on the full face Aral helmet.
In the end. I had to go to a facility with what they call an open MRI. Which looks like a tuning fork. Or two parallel tennis rackets and one slides in from the side.

maxman, I've had the gall bladder issue. Holy crap that hurt. The doctor said. Now you know what a heart attack feels like. Yikes!

They're not pleasant experiences at all. Especially if you are claustrophobic. My personal tip is to have a late night the night before so you'll hopefully conk out in there, hold the alarm in your hand and whatever happens keep your eyes closed as they push you in. Hope it's not serious.

I didnt mind my MRI - If I had been claustrophobic it would have been scary. It was the not being able to move that got me. I suppose the real worry is the diagnosis and its impllications!

I was being brave and didn't go for my neck scan whe my wife told me to. Now ive got a welded up neck and wobble like a drunk when I walk!

All part of lifes rich tapestry as the saying goes. That and getting old! :D

Sedation is good stuff. Perfectly legal high. Personally if i were to have a MRI scan my preferred drug of choice would be ketamine!

I held the hand of an old friend in an MRI scanner and I can confirm that despite us both being medics it's the potential diagnosis that's the most distressing part
Nothing serious I hope?

I had 3 of them after my bike accident,
Worst part was trying to get off of that table.
Tough to get up from prone position with 5 fractured ribs.
The nurse refused to help me cause she said helping patients was bad for her back !
Kept my fingers crossed that I got the male nurse who looked like a Rugby Prop.

I have to give GA's sometimes so people can have MRIs as they too claustrophobic to go in. Special-k wouldnt be my first line choice of drug though!

I had one in December and with ear defenders on I could have dozed off, I thought it was (almost) pleasant to be honest

Lol that's exactly how I found it. My problem is not a serious one so I had no other worries thank goodness!

Have two MRI's and a CT under my belt lol now... Migraine, Herniated Disc... Didn't mind the MRI, thought it fascinating. Didn't like the CT, had an injection for that and I'm not great with needles
