Mr12volt Differences

Apologies for another Mr12volt topic, but can anyone tell me the difference between the various box colours? I assumed there was just 1 version to suit CIC, but it seems you can get blue, grey and black?

I think the grey one is the most recent version. That's the one I have. I'm sure Dave (anubiszed) will be along shortly with a full explanation.

What’s the difference between blue and black?

OK so they went in this order...

Version 1 - Blue metal case
Version 2 - Black plastic case. My original version as seen in my video.
Version 3 - Blue plastic case. Introduction of the built-in DSP.
Version 4 - Grey plastic case. Introduction of the OEM microphone connection.

There have been 18 MCU firmware updates since first introduction, the last one being July 2025, so a new box bought now should be up to date. They've slowed down with the updates as they are now very stable, obviously there were more earlier on as issuse were found. They've worked closely with the Mr12volt community and listen to issues and suggestions (the DSP being a big one).

If buying second hand, are they all still acceptable? Or is there a certain model you would not recommend not going back as far?

I wouldn't recommend the original metal or the black plastic, but the later two should be fine. Obviously you could be taking someone else's problems!!
