According to the on board computer I get 28 MPG consistently with the 3.0i engine.

My 3.0 hovers around the 29mpg in 'normal' around town driving, dropping to low/mid 20's when I'm having fun ... on a recent 100 mile trip up the M6 motorway to Cumbria it averaged 38.9 (at least according to the computer), the motorway speed varied from 50 to 80ish due to congestion!
