Can anyone beat this at the weekend I went on an 80 mile motorway trip average speed 60 mph and my Z4 Coupe manual returned 47 mpg !!!

And with a Z4MC I'd have to push it at least 20 of those miles if I did try and beat 47 :-)

well I agree it was not a very exciting drive more of a test than anything and certainly not the way a Z should be driven ....
 
Ok, I'll buck the trend of smart arse answers and agree that the fuel efficiency of these 3.0 engines can be staggering at times. My record is 41mpg over 170 miles at 75mph. Not sure I'd want to be doing 60mph on the motorway to be honest!
 
As Bradders75 says, the 3.0 engines can return great MPG if you try....

I've never managed 45+ ... Nudged 40 a few of times
 
Totally agree. I was astonished with the fuel economy of my 3.0si when I had it. I even managed the drive from Swindon to Carlisle (270 miles or so) on just over half a tank. Just flicked the cruise control on to 70 and left it at that the whole way. Quite relaxing!
 
Driving my Z4MC back home after buying it on sunday I was getting 28-30MPG. BUT the weather was shocking and I could barely see 40 foot in front so stuck to around 60 & 80 MPH.

Not the best first drive.......
 
Yep i've had 47 too! It was the most boring drive ever like. In 6th gear in 50mph roadworks on the A1 that went on for miles and miles. I think I actually gained fuel instead of using it :lol:
Needless to say it doesn't normally see that high. 22 does me nicely!
 
I've had my Coupe for a year and a half and I am still surprised at the MPG you can get, if you are so inclined.
