mpg

Hi guys

Not sure if this has already been discussed but can anyone tell me what sort of fuel economy they get out of a 3.0si???
Stats say - 33mpg (combined), but is it true?

thanks

If your search I'm sure you'll find lots of posts about this. But short answer you can't get 33mpg combined. You MAY get it with 100% freeway driving while your foot is very easy on the throttle.

My 2.5i can get 33mpg (average speed of 40mph for a tank of fuel). So I also don't think 3.0si can get 33 combined mpg.

Depends how you drive it really.I rekon my 03 3.0 does between 25 and 35 mpg depending upon how I drive it. The facelift ones are supposed to be a couple of mpg better.Other factors are manual or auto and your mix of town/open roads etc. Overall, for a 3.0 six, they are surprisingly good on fuel for such a good performing car.

I get 22 mpg from my coupe. That's just city driving though. If I throw in some motorway or a/b road driving it jumps up a bit. Still a good bit better that my EVO was so I'm happy enough with it :)

I have averaged 44 mpg over continuous motorway mileage of about 350-400 miles when sat a steady 60-70 mph.

Since I've had the car I've averaged 31.9 mpg which isn't too bad when all things are considered. That's a mix of town and motorway driving. My pure town driving average can be as low as 24 mpg overall.

I don't creep around nor do I speed everywhere. I just drive the car how I feel that day.

At the end of the day you did buy a 3 litre!

Mine is showing 31.3 on the computer since I've had it, that is totally mixed driving. IMO its very good for a 3.0 engine.

I have never seen over 28mpg in my 3.0si  I'm currently averaging 23.1!
I generally fill up once a week and do about 250 miles on the full tank. I am very happy with this considering my old 1.6 did this too :?
All depends how you drive it really, if you drive it like a Grandad you will get a lot more.

Here in the US--I'm getting roughly 28 combined, I've seen as high as 34 on the highway--but I'm usually around 32.

3.0si over the course of 2,000 miles - 22.0 mpg. Town driving.

I'm glad that someone is averaging the same as me - was worried I was doing something wrong :D

i dont think i could live with low twenties! lowest ive had on my 2.5i is 27, and that was lead foot driving everywhere! im getting 32mpg with a mix of town/motorway/sensible/thrashing it which im very happy with, close to what i was getting with similar driving of my old 1.6 petrol seat ibiza. just got 325 miles out of a tank, on my 3rd tank of v power and computer is showing i should get a bit more this time

Don t diss grandads ! mines got a 997 gen Carrera 4cs and drives like :x

Currently averaging 24mpg, mainly town driving. My old 330cd only used to return 26mpg so I'm happy (it was an auto)

My 3.0 is getting 27/28mpg combined. 3.5hrs of 'spirited' driving on A roads after buying the car and I averaged 37mpg! The 3.0 is effortless so long straight roads are frugal, but town driving will lower the mpg to mid 20's in my experience (2 weeks of loving ownership, and I put my foot down constantly to hear the beast  )
