I saw this yesterday - MPG 99.9 - must have a BUG!

Anyone seen this? What was the fix?

Warranty expires 11/19/2009 - better hurry! I have CPO but then it will cost me $50.

My Mini Cooper S (which I'm sure had some common electrical components, the computer options were all the same I think) did this! Never got round to getting it fixed before I sold it - sorry, this is possibly the most pointless reply to your question.

Erm. Have you not just reset it and then coasted to get that figure? Most cars will show 99.9 or 999.9 MPG if you do that. It doesn't mean it's broken.

Yeah especially if you do it when going down a steep hill you'll get pretty high mpg.
Like others have said, reset while driving normally on a flat road, it should go back to a reasonable number.

You have just filled up, I can see that, and guessing you rest the computer then as somebody else stated down hill or similar is the result.

On my old 320cd I could get upto 70mpg in the first two miles along a particular road being careful.

OK - I guess the point of my post was - I couldn't fix it in the Mini, no matter how I tried to reset it - I wouldn't be suprised if this is the case here too.

i just managed 51 mpg over a 3 hour drive...
was THE most boring journey in my life but thought id just see how high i could get it on my commute back to base.
i kno this has little do do with this thread but thought id just tell another lil story there.. :)

have you tried reseting it?

Thanks for the reply -
If by reset are you talking about the "S/R" button next to the set clock button? Tried it and no change. Hope I don't have to go to the dealer!
PS - This is not a photoshop!

Thanks!

Just need to press and hold the button to switch between modes on the trip computer (button on the end of the indicator stalk)

It switches between modes just fine - always comes back to "MPG 99.9" :!:

So you have Sat Nav? If so go into the 'Computer' (forgot its name) from the main menu which shows Consumption1/Consumtion2 and try resetting those (just click on them)

You need to press and HOLD the mode selecter button once the trip computer is displaying the MPG. This will then reset and display ' --- ' until you start driving

The only small problem is that the MPG now says 14.8 - - - but going up slowly - - - it should make it back to an average of 26.5+ like before with more driving ! ! ! I actually get 26 in town and 31 interstate.
All's well that ends well !!! :trampoline: I don't have to take it to the dealer!

Heh, at 14.8 your racing it everywhere's you go. My personal track best was 12mpg. :driving:
Though depending on when you do it you might get that number.

My car is odd, it doesn't really update the mpg until I make it update. Not even after a fill up of the gas.

I'm lucky to get a max of 31MPG with my "SPIRITED" driving - - -
