MPG difference between Coupe and Roadster?

Of course there is more drag on a roadster. I compared a 2008 3.0si coupe to a 2008 3.0si roadster and they are rated as follows.

Coupe 20/30
Roadster 18/28

Edited! I made a mistake.

Yep more aerodynamic drag on a Roadster - more so with the roof down. The coupe's better aero comes primarily from how the roof meets the rear end smoothly, whereas the roadster there is a sudden change in angle. As speed^2 = drag though, at city speeds (<=40mph) it really won't make hardly any difference, roof up or down.

so basically if you're a penny pincher or a tree hugger - get the Coupe and switch off the AC. :P

I believe the Roadster weighs 1310 kg and the Coupe weighs 1320 kg (based on 3.0si)

Now stop your arguing they are both fantastic cars. :P

This is something I just read on the CAR Magazines Z4M test. I didn't know the steering and dampers were different on the Coupe! More of a drivers car? :driving:

"The tin roof adds 5kg, but the Coupé matches the Roadster's 5.0sec 0-62mph time. The stiffer shell has also enabled the M division's white coats to quicken the steering ratio, and the spring and damper settings are different. Basically it feels much sharper to drive."

Of course it is more of a drivers car as it is an M. They were comparing it to its lesser brother, the 3.0 ...

Oh ... :P

Another reason to go for the roadster http://uk.news.yahoo.com/4/20090430/tuk-weathermen-predict-warm-dry-summer-dba1618.html

:D :D

Only thing is that the weathermen and Gordon Brown have one thing in common - they have no clue what is going to happen :D

Last year with the global warming, it was also predicted to be hot and dry and we would run out of water. Hmm.

But the AC can be on with no difference in mileage, it's run electrically :D .

itll put a higher drain on your battery though surely which needs engine power to charge :?

I like the verdict on page 4 of that CAR mag Z4M article!

"Verdict

A TVR for people who haven't got time to spend hanging around hard shoulders, the £41,285 M coupe looks, and sounds spectacular. But the 3.0Si isn't much slower, drops as many jaws and costs £8K less. I'm afraid this time the M model isn't the default choice."

:P :poke: :fuelfire:

Here we go again!!

Listen Breaker, you were well and truly had there :D . You thought they were comparing it to the M roadster and that the M coupe was better equiped and therefore a better driver's car. Unfortunately, they were comparing it to your own car and you publicly admitted what your sub conscience has been telling you all along

Just let me enjoy this moment for bit, will you :poke:

OK, times up. :P

Now................go back to the article and read again!

I await your apology! :poke:

Actually, now we have sorted that one out, I wonder if it's the same for the 3.0si Roadster and Coupe?

On a side note, that Nürburgring time for the M coupe mentioned in the CAR review is impressive!
