MPG at varying speeds

real world MPG using this calc is 40.01 MPG in my 3.0i SE , 410 miles to a tank , each fill up is 52 litres. http://www.fuel-economy.co.uk/calc.shtml

Its totally possible to get 40 MPG out of the 3.0, but I find only with cruise control and it set at 60mph , prior fitting cruise control i could only get 350 miles to a tank. The cruise control can manipulate the throttle in a tiny increments that your right foot has trouble doing especially when it is made of lead.

I have been lots of journeys between solihull and sheffield basically 100 mile trip a few times a week, I can take the A class 1.6 and look like noddy or I can take the Z4 and reduce speed slightly to get similar economy :-)

I get 35mpg on average, and that's both brim to brim and calculating it.
My journey is 25miles each way mainly dual carriageways. I'm sure 40mpg is achievable but not much fun!

I think the 3.0si engine is amazing for both performance and economy!
