MP3 CDs?

Hi all. Any ideas on the preferred structure or folder limitations for burning mp3 CDs? As I've had no time to refit the Intravee to IMmie yet I burned a CD last night but the head unit doesn't like it. It displayed CD check then started playing the first track. As I pressed the button for the next track it displayed an error then went back to the radio. Leaving it playing it played the first track then went back to the radio. No ID3 info was displayed either

I used my normal folder structure (artist - album - contents) and was wondering if it needs to be a flatter structure, just a folder for each album...

From memory I used a flatter structure as you mentioned with one folder per album. Not really a problem considering how few albums you can fit on a CD. I don't think it will list the tags either.

I know. Fortunately IMmie has a garage where #69 didn't so anything untoward with weather and I can carry on. The YouTube vids on fitting a Dice to an M are quite helpful. I'll probably take a few pics and do another write up.

Wouldn't the aux cable with an iPod be easier? What's this dice intravee thing all about? Like a hands free thing?

Proper interface into the car and steering wheel controls and Nav screen. The aux port is a stopgap but dangerous to fiddle with the iPod controls

Cheers. The key difference between IMmie and #69 is the battery and DSP. The battery is an embuggerance but should be ok, the DSP works in my favour as the Alpine will fit in with the speaker where #69 had the cubby holes which fouled when refitting. The Intravee will fasten to the bulkhead as before, I just need to work out whether to fit an ashtray mount or put the lead into the centre storage shelf.

Mine only shows the cd number on the disc, and the track number. Archaic, and annoying as hell :x

Mine showed the tags but all the disks I've burned using my new PC won't play at all :(

I know the disks work as I've used them before.

Got this working after making a few coasters. Still no ID3 tags which pisses me off, and no ability to navigate the folder structures that also pisses me off but at least the thing plays. The gotcha for me was Nero was defaulting to UDF format CD and not ISO-9660. That's all that was needed.

Now does anyone get their ID3 track data displayed on their head unit? (Nav version) I'd like to know if there's a model change...

Yes, I get the ID3 data displayed, plus I can navigate the folders. Scroll down to my post in this thread, more detailed information:

How do you navigate between folders? I tried pressing the rh button as I would have done on my old 3er but no dice.

As I've had a couple of new CDs skipping when driving maybe I'll ask them to replace the head unit.

I have Nav, so not sure if the "non-Navs" are like this. You push the "Sel" button, then use the right rotary knob to scroll up to "directory", then push the right rotary button to select "directory", the either turn the rotary button to the right or left, or push the right or left arrow buttons............... this moves between folders. The choice above directory, "music something" does the same thing forwards and backwards but between songs, not folders.

I will try a disc using ISO and let you know. If it works I'll happily post it to you for you to test out?
