How do I burn mp3's to a cd so I can switch between albums?
I've tried dropping them straight onto cd so each album is a folder but I can't move between them on the headunit.
Any ideas?
I do this using ripping and recording software called Easy CD-DA Extractor.....uses the LAME encoding for MP3 which has a great variable bit rate option. I can get about 8 or 9 albums/CD on one MP3 CD. The softwares allows me to rip to my folder called "music". It also gives you options on how to structure the files. I set up the "files" as as Artist/Album/song title with number....... Example "Beatles" for artist, "Abbey Road" for album, then the individual songs listed. For a mixed CD, I fool it like this, "Classic Rock" for the artist, "Who-Live at Leeds" as the album (because this is a mix CD, I wanted the name of the mix as the artist, so I squeeze the artist name and album title together under album), then the songs. I have the Carver/Top Hi Fi system with nav............... when I play my MP3 CDs all 3 categories show on the screen on different lines, it looks like this:
TR 02-005
Classic Rock
Who-Live at leeds
Summertime Blues
In that example TR 02-005 would mean Live at leads was the 2nd album on the MP3 CD and Summertime Blues is track 5.
The system allows me to skip forwards and backwards on the CD by "album", so I can go to any album immediately on the CD. The steering wheel controls skip forward and backward by individual song. You have to use the "SEL", select button and then choose "directory" to cycle between the individual albums.
I hope the above makes sense, it's late here and I'm rather sleepy. I love this software, the VBR records at an average bit rate in the high 200s, hitting 320 when the material demands needs it, and a low bit rate for quiet passages. I have a 24 CD case with 24 of these MP3 CDs in the center console and have approximately 225 full albums on them, some by entire artist and some by genre (Beatles=artist, Classic Rock=genre). The sound quality is very good, really can't tell the difference between the VBR MP3 CD and the original. Sounds better than the aux input, and I don't like the way the Dice for example, integrates with the system........... it's hit or miss sometimes in my opinion, YMMV. I realize this isn't everyones cup of tea, but it works for me.
