Moving to the ///M side...

Can't you negotiate the service into the price when its actually due?

Otherwise you've brought all your future services forward by 8k miles too.

If that's not an option, then you've got to take the free service.

Oh and champagne leather looks great but be aware it gets grimy in normal use.

M-Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Turn Key - Sport Button engaded -(put your floppy roof down :P ) - Foot to floor!!!  :driving:

I'd be careful as to what the free service is? If Insp 2 is due in 8,000 miles then that's a £900-£1,000 main dealer service cost. But are they just going to change the oil which would put your service out of sync? Not sure why they want to service it now anyway?

the service would be free cos the father in law would do it as part of his secret shopping job thing, so bmw would have no clue as to why i wanted it done

well today was meant to be M day, but i drove all the way to b'ham and the salesman asked for both parts of my licence...and yeahh left the paper part at home, he was adamant he told me to bring both parts but he didnt otherwise i would have bought it lol, had it in my hand last weekend and decided to leave it at home and drive to the dealers straight from base, so yeah waste of a day, waste of time and waste of good weather driving a 2.0 instead of a 3.2, so back to bham tomorrow to try again, what a joke but only really have myself to blame, didnt know they couldnt hand over a car without both parts of a licence, shammeeee

Oh no ! Another sleepless night :(

Bit strange that though - I didn't need both parts of mine when I bought my car :?

yeah its bloody rubbish, waste of 35 quid petrol and ive never known it a requirement to have both parts, but the guy said if his boss found out he would prob lose his job, so yeah live and learn dont you, im having to make myself believe tht it was meant to be, maybe if i had got it today i wouldve been tempted to go 120mph without noticing a speed camera or something, so i ll just believe its meant to be

roll on tomorrow!!!

Surely that's only coz of driveaway insurance?

I didn't show either part of my licence to my dealer at all.. just my debit card :D

Really? thats strange surely if you have purchased it , its your car to do what you want with. No way I would have been leaveing without it

Seems daft that you need both parts of the license - BMW dealers can (and do, in my experience) phone DVLA direct to determine of you have any active endorsements on your license - happens whenever I get the courtesy car. They sometimes try to pass the cost of the call on (and get the raised eyebrow, long-stare and 'I assume you're joking, given the cost of this service' conversation) but I have never had a courtesy car refused for not presenting the paper part of the license.

Lovely colour combo

Im thinking about an M at the moment but apart from the willy waving im struggling to see a good reason.
After reading the Pistonheads article 3.0si vs M its starting to not make sense buying an M. And i do about 4 track days a year to, which is about the only place its better.
I think not making sense is half the reason probably :D
Let us know how you get on :)

I don't understand why the dealer needs your licence at all to sell you a car. They obviously need to know when you have a test drive, but surely its irrelevant to them whether you have a licence or not for you to buy a car off them unless there is some sort of insurance included in the deal.

haha nope not crashed her yet, picked her up yesterday! wow. bloody brilliant, at first i just sat on the motorway cruising at legal speeds just to get to know her a bit better, even managed about 29.8 mpg which i know is nothing to be proud of on a z4 forum but its good to know that if i want to it is fairly economical, and yeahh after about an hour of driving i thought, f it lets open her up a bit, sat in a 50 zone which then went into national speed limit, didnt even try flooring it in 3rd gear cos i thought id save it for another day, so 4th gear, foot down for a few seconds, and very briefly i was going a lot faster (70mph to be exact cos thts the uk speed limit on a motorway  ) but wow, the noise, the torque in 6th gear, the power, wow, yes please its pretty amazing isnt it, cant wait to drive her again, and pics will be with you by the weekend when im back at home

yeah but in an MC the ladies can't see you! which is prob where im going wrong  hope the mrs donesnt read this lol

which reminds me, on the way to base yesterday i stopped for the inevitable fuel fill up and parked her in the middle of a massive service car park, walked about 100 yards towards the enterance and by the front there was a guy and a girl dressed casually (obv to look cool and hip to draw in the cool and hip customers) and they were trying to promote tht peugot rcz thing or whatever it is? cheapish audi tt lokalike thing. anywayy they were chatting to a few ppl and i walked past and the girl "who looked quite hot in her defence" didnt even speak to me, so i obv didnt fit into their bracket of buyers im imagining, they were stopping ppl aged 24-32 i think, so meh thought riiightt then, i hate feeling like ppl dont think ur worthy lol, so got my food and walked out the service station, waled again right past them and again nothing, so i ate my lunch while staring at the new car, and rather than drive directly across the car park to the exit i drove down the lil lane infront of my car park space which so happened to meet the junction directly infront of the peugot stand, so yeah roof down, first gear, stopped at the junction, and you can imagine her face when she saw me, needless to say as i pulled out of the junction and away from them she was still looking at the back of the zed. Yeah your looking now arent ya!!
haha well it made me laugh anyway
i wish they had asked me if i was interested in buying one, id have said "no thanks its not fast enough" :tumbleweed:
