She misses Crossroads too.....go figure!!![]()

Bing said:... Probably wouldn't get a coupe for the same money. You might be able to get a very nice late (2005) 3.0i with all the toys well within your budget though - pre-facelift looks (unless there is one in the for sale section that has been modded tastefully), 30hp less than the 3.0Si but from what I have learned on here no significant decrease in fun.
There are fewer about in winter, but it's a buyer's market so you may find a gem, for example (though it is in Perth...) ZermattV's old one - http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=43786

Keep looking, the right one will come along, I was looking for a good 2-3 months before I got mine, but having checked the net every single day, I knew the market, I knew what was about, and I didn't have any doubts when the right one came along.
Welcome to the forum btw![]()
kezz said:Gazhyde said:I can answer that having both at the moment  IMHO my 2.0 Z3 is just more fun to drive and chuck around, even with 80bhp less... The Z4 is so bloody competent at going round corners, going really fast and being refined it borders on dull - no drama at all.kezz said:Oh no Carol don't tell me you still miss it!
What do you miss about the Z3?
If you want something to troll up the motorways, is full of toys and is way more comfortable than a Z3, then the Z4 is a perfect choice. My poor little 2.0's just too noisy at those speeds for any long distance, and the seats are awful.
Both great cars in their own way, but for me I always choose the Z4 for daily driving - and I take the Z3 when going for a blast.
oh no! this makes it so difficult. I lived with the Z3s as a daily drive for 3 years (the longest I've kept any car!) It's worrying me that I won't get the "wow factor" every time I jump in a Z4 (since I can't get an ///M yet)
Definitely need to test drive a few before buying!
Good to hear from others with experience of both cars though.
Thanks again everyone for being so welcoming.![]()
kezz said:Hi all,
Thanks for the lovely welcome.
I've a few questions...
I've now driven a few cars and "think" I've decided I like the 2.5ltr
I drove a 2.5 2003 on a 53 plate yesterday it was lovely. Drove like a dream and is fully loaded it has hardtop, heated seats, 18" alloys (which really make it drive differently to the others I drove with 16"!), sat nav etc. Bodywork in average condition for the age.
It has full BMW service history, only 55,000 miles and one lady owner from new.
So questions:
- How much would you expect to pay for a car like this from a dealer? They will be providing 6 months warranty which covers most things apart from general wear and tear (tyres etc)
- what are the sorts of things that I need to look for with a car this age and mileage?
- is it easy to remove and and put the hardtop on and off?
Thanks in advance!

9k? Based on the following thoughts. Similar mileage cars changing hands here for up to 8k. This has a hardtop (add £750-900) and a 6 month warranty so dealers asks up to £10k, you negotiate down...
I however am a hopeless optimist. Take my opinion with a large pinch of salt and see what others think. Also check everything against the buyers guide on here

Sounds like a great car, but I can't help feeling you'd be better off with an ///M
