I have a Cannondale Super V 500 and I’m not able to ride it any more due to a spinal problem, I intend to advertise it for sale but I don’t know what to ask for it?
Any advice would be appreciated -

Looks nice, how much was it new & how old is it?
Rob

I got it several years ago from a pal who has a high end bike shop (Pinarelo /Colonago) it was a trade in so I’m not aware of its pedigree - The bike has been languishing in my garage for a few years since my spinal surgery.
I have looked on eBay and there’s frame for £320 - but I thought that was expensive - or am I living in the past and out of touch ? Hence my question.

It would go back to the shop but he only does pukka road bikes these days.

Hard to value old bikes in good condition as it is probably worn much more to you then someone would want to pay

If you want it sold ebay and a low starting price and hope you get a few bids

I only ride velodromes nowadays so not much help to you

Is there a local MTB club that had British Cycling Go Ride they may be a good place to start

Not sure how much it is worth so can't help you there. However I'm up in Newcastle and really fancy getting into mountain biking/ trail riding if that's the term haha. I'll keep an eye on this thread if you find out how much you want for it. Also I'm a short arse, do you know how big it is? Looking on bike shop websites it goes by frame size and wheel size. Cheers

I will measure it but it fits me and I’m only 5’9” - 30”inside leg and I rode it without a stretch!

No offence, but that bike looks about 20 years old, or more. I was riding 15 years ago and that looks old even then.

Unless you find someone really really keen on a retro bike, maybe £100?!?

Edit: an american forum post from 12 years ago suggested $150-$300, add another 12 years on and yeah, id say £100.

Certainly none taken - I asked for opinions ‘cos I don’t know what it’s worth.
Ps I think you ll be very close on its age - it’s not been ridden since my spinal op 10yrs ago and I didn’t ride for some while up to the op.

Having a look that is definitely a retro bike. Cantilever brakes and the Rock Shox Indy C’s are a dead give away.

I only know this because I was really into mountain biking when that bike came out.

Have a look at the retro bike forum as I suspect you may get a better buyer on there. Maybe someone who wants to restore it.

For comparison, I have a barely used Felt Compulsion , disc brakes, air spring, 27 speed etc. From 2010 and I’m looking at £300 for a previously £1800 bike.

With anything of unknown value, best sling it on ebay, no reserve, very low (ie 99p) starting price. The market will tell you what its worth, and youll get it sold.

Hopefully at least two people get interested and get into a nice bidding war to push the price up

I’d suggest a dedicated Facebook group for this kind of thing. If you’re not on there perhaps a friend or relative can help. The beauty of these kind of groups is that it’s only filled by people looking for exactly what you’re selling.

I sold an old Cannondale through Facebook and could have sold it 10 times over.
