So when you are on the motorway is it roof up or down?
I don't like to put it down to be honest as I think if I was in an accident I would stand a better chance with the roof up.
I thought this when I had my z3 too so I've felt the same with a soft top and with the hard roof of the z4.

I've noticed a lot of people seem to feel ok to roof down motorway driving. So let's have your vote!

Down - as long as I'm confident the good weather will hold for the duration of the journey!

Did 40 miles on the M40/6 on the way back from work just now - roof down, 24c, couldn't be better

I'll do both, but prefer up so voted up. At 70 With roof down there's too much background noise. Anything below 50mph and I like the top off!

Down for short journeys. A couple of months back, on a sunny day I was driving along a motorway with the roof up thinking, I should stop somewhere and take the roof down. Shortly after that thought a large stone smacked the roof of the car (made a 1" scar in the paint) and I was glad I didn't. Motorway speeds + debris = injury.

Stick to 65 mph on the motorway with the top down and my commute along the motorways is fabulous darlings :)

If it's not raining I'm always roof down and don't find it a problem even at higher motorway speeds, as to safety I seriously doubt the roof is going to add much by way of protection in a motorway roll-over. Go for it :driving:

all depends on just how far I'm going and if I'm alone, it can get tiresome on a very long journey with the roof down. So I guess it all depends on the circumstances, how's that for sitting on the fence.

With weather like todays, it has to be down, I have just been on the M42 with the roof down and it was lovely, but then there was a 60mph speed limit in place.

Weather dependent, but rule is sun out, roof down  Last summer had a return day trip to Bristol, 420 miles total, all roof down. Loved it. :D
