Motorway. The car broker, not the road

After hearing of Motorway from posts on here I thought I'd check them out. I ended up selling through them and thought I'd post my experience in case others were thinking of selling this way:

I had got several online valuations from 'We Buy Any Car' over a few weeks. These eventually peaked at £26,500 and stayed the same for a couple of weeks.
I then thought I'd get an online valuation from Motorway, just to see. Their valuation was £27,859. I talked to a rep on the phone and they seemed confident it would reach this. So I told them to sell it. It went in a 5 hour online auction, only accessible to motor traders/ dealers who have signed up with them. At 3pm I got an email saying it had reached the £27,859, so happy days.
The dealer who won the auction contacted me immediately, I sent them some bits of information they required, mainly to prove it was my car and I could legally sell it, then we arranged a day for them to come and collect it.
It was collected at 9am this morning, the driver checked over the vehicle for a few minutes, phoned the dealership and the full payment was transferred into my bank account instantly. The car was then driven away.

You pay no fees, the price it sells for is the price you get. If you don't like the price it reaches you can just walk away, there is no contract.

I have to say it was the easiest process and I made much more than I would any other way, other than potentially privately and I didn't want the aggravation of that.

Excellent Pondrew, thanks for sharing. Are you looking for a new Z now?
It wasn't the Z4, it was another car. I'm not allowed to sell the Zed SWMBO has decreed it.

Not allowed to sell it, or allowed to sell it if you upgrade it………………. :tumbleweed:

she has become attached to it, apparently. Which is quite ironic, as it just sits in the garage from one week to the next. And she NEVER goes near the garage (she has no need to as the Hoover and washing machine aren't kept in there) :?
My hunt for an M6 convertible can now begin in earnest :D

If she become attached to it and is therefore leaving you to pursue an M6 vert I’d say that’s an acceptable position to be in

You decided on a colour combo for the M6?

I looked at them when selling the 718, offer/suspected bid was a bit more, but not much. I sent an email to quite a few Porsche dealers and specialists and also a couple of motorway/WBAC types of business that deal only with prestige vehicles. I then offerd it to my local Porsche dealer who supplied the car at the highest bid I received and they, grudgingly, matched it.

Could have gotten a little more as shortly after completing the sale, one of the prestige type said they had a higher offer from a specialist .

Not really fussed TBH Andrew, as long as it's a good, well looked after car, with obviously very low mileage. There aren't many around ATM. I do like Sakhir Orange and the San Marino blue. I also like white interiors. I can't wait too long, as the Gov will probably tax them off the road soon. :(

I rang two local main dealers; they both said they were really interested, then never came back to me! They could have bought it for less than I got as I only had the WBAC price at that time. Their loss, my gain

Every business I contacted came back and quoted, one or two at the Madam though, strangely when they were told my current best offer they beat it. :D

Thanks for the post, very interesting and helpful

Out of interest obtained a valuation from WBAC 2014 (VO 35is with 46K on the clock and full set of toys) and it came back as £19,300 (This is £2k down on a valuation just about a month ago!!!) Motorway gave it as £19,800.

Both can take a run and jump

There's a wanted advert been posted recently!

Thanks. Maybe I am being unrealistic but I don’t think his budget is as high as my lowest tempting price
