Motorised m sport seat compatibility

Hi there, going to replace my standard manual heated seats with motorised heated m sport seats. It's a 2003 model so does that mean it will be plug and play or will I need to somehow supply power for the motors?

I've heard the 2003's have a lot of the electronics included even if it wasn't selected as an option.

Thanks!

Early zeds should have a complete loom with power for the seats. Looking at the connector there should be wide pins 13 and 14. If not, the wiring can be added afterwards, positive leads from the fuse box and negative from grounding points near the footwell speakers.

Only caveat I would add is that from my experience the range of movement is a little less with motorised than with manual. So if you're very tall you may want to check that out first.

Remember you will also need the switch panel with heated seat buttons (the panel above the ashtray that controls the roof, DSC and TPMS). Again, the wiring should be present.

In his case he already has standard heated seats so should be ok.

Note: Make sure you replace the seats from a pre-face car because face lifted car has a different occupancy sensory. You can use the seat but you'll need to (1.) Need to use a by-pass unit which tells the car someone is always in the seat or (2.) Take the leather off and replace the sensor.

Option (1.) is easier.

Though the condition of the seat might be better on a later car.

Thanks for all your help as ever, getting a 2003 seemed to be a great accidental decision for modding!

Didn't know about the occupancy sensor being different, could it be bypassed with Carly?

Not sure you can do with Carly, but anyone with INPA should be able to sort it (can deactivate the sensor I think). Any good indy will have this.

You can buy a device of ebay for less than £20 which is plug and play into the body harness side. My suggestion would be cable the the old connector back and secure the small module to the seat frame. Like I said in your case it is only needed if you use a face-lifted seat. I don't believe you can use carly because it is safety related.

You can definitely code out the occupancy sensors.

So what happens to the airbags in a crash if they can't detect a person in the seat?
