motor changed roof still not working

Hi all just stumbled across this forum and thought some one maybe able to help
me I have a z4 and after going around various garages to find one interested in repairing my non working roof
I decided to give it a go myself I removed motor which was soaking with water and replaced not easy but got there
reassembled as in great how to do I found off this site . But still nothing when I push switch nothing happens no light on switch
windows dont drop totally dead I have checked 31 fuse and 12 and 55 which are all fine anyone got any ideas could luggage storage microswitch
cause this? thanks for any help as its getting a bit frustrating.
 
I can't imagine how annoying that must be! Did you clear the drains whilst you had it in bits?

I'm by no means an expert, but thought I'd throw my opinion out there.

I would have thought its a physical wiring problem. A disconnect or short of some kind. I'd recommend spending £30 on a odb connection for the laptop. This should point you in the right direction.

There's also some good preventative maintenance guides on here. Might be worth checking them out :thumbsup:

sounds like microswitch not being activated. Especially after a refit of the shelf
 
cheers for imput if micro switch on rear shelf is not being activated will I get no lights when I push roof button . or will if flash as written in first reply and where is micro switch located . I think I can borrow a main switch so this may help.
 
I blew a fuse on mine when I had connected back up, following Shipkillers link I took no notice of the connections, cos he said you can't mix them.
But you can connect two wrong plug/sockets together, and blow a fuse, I did and got no movement, till I replaced the fuse and connected correctly.
Cannot remember which fuse it was now, may not have been one of the 3 you mention?
 
was fuse you blew in passenger side main fuse board will go through them all I changed my motor using shipkillers how to so
may be same mistake will let you know in morning
 
I can't remember which one, but it was a big current one, something like a 40amp I think
