MOT warranty, worth it?

I’ve had my 53 plate Zed for a year and just MOT’d it at Halfords Autocentre on the half price (£27) deal, passed with a couple of advisories for brake flexi hose connector surface corrosion.

Halfords are offering an MOT warranty against repair costs on most MOT component failures (not brakes/tyres) and the only significant exclusions I spotted was catalyst and xenon light units. It costs £75 for one year (max £750 claim) and £140 for three years (max £2k) and IS TRANSFERABLE. (cars up to 100k mles 10 years and serviced or MOTd by halfords in the last 3 months)

I’m thinking it’s a no brainer since my 53 plate Zed only has 36k miles with full BMWSH, as far as I know hasn’t had any of the common suspension/steering bits changed and has advisories which would probably cost more. Anyone used this or thoughts on the likely value would be appreciated?

The MOT is designed to ensure cars are roadworthy - why not just keep you Zed in good and roadworthy condition and save the cost of the insurance.

Kept roadworthy, I think pampered is the phrase :?

My question, based on owners experiences is, can I expect to spend more than £140 in three years on a seven year old Zed to replace common MOT suspension, steering components etc? If so getting the warranty to pay for it and avoid shocks looks like a good deal (and maybe others would like to know about it).

I'd have thought they would insist you had it serviced with them as well judging by what you said about transferring another vehicle in.....tell me you wouldn't? LOL :o

Sorry for any confusion, it's transferrable to a new owner, not another car, so may help re-sale?
