MOT Undertray Advisory

Anyone know what this means on the MOT advisory notice?

Advisory Items
001 Advise manufacturers undertrays fitted.


It’s a 07 Z4 Coupe, I had a Google but it mainly brings back motorbikes. I’ve assumed it’s the plastic tray you get below the engine?

Should it be anything to worry about?
 
My guess is it's missing or unsecure.
I'd ask the MOT station why the advisory or take a look yourself.

Given it's an advisory it's nothing to worry about but needs fixing else it will show each MOT and look bad to a prospective buyer
 
My guess is that it has undertrays fitted which they will not remove therefore mot is clarified by this fact.

I had the same on mine. They are saying some items haven't been checked as they were unable due to the undertray (which pretty much means anything on the underside of the car on the Z4!).
 
It's a car I'm looking to buy so I can't get my hands on it untill the weekend.

So it sounds like it is there but it hinders some of the MOT checks?

So by the sounds of it I could get this advisory on every MOT?

Sounds like it.

On my Scirocco MOT every year they put an advisory for "Steering rack extended" because of a modification to add power steering. Had it for 3 years running but it was never a failure.

Odd that this MOT place has marked this on the coupe you are interested in though. Would be interesting to see if other coupes get this advisory..
 
I've checked the MOT history and all three MOT's have been carried out at Williams Stockport but only the latest has been flagged with the Undertray Advisory? Maybe a new guy or a jobsworth?

I think I'll give them a bell.
 
Probably not the case but...

Its not had another bumper fitted, such as an M front bumper?

The reason i say this is that i have retrofitted the M bumper to my car, but have not fitted the M undertray; Meaning the standard 3.0se undertray doesnt fully cover the engine now.

I’m no pioneer on this, just copied others and followed the useful how to guides

PS not that expensive to fit these parts, well as long as you can source them :thumbsup:
 
Just called the garage and they confirmed it advises the undertray was fitted when the test was carried out. I asked why it wasn't on any of the other tests and they said some testers put it on the advisories and some don't.

They said the same happens if a child seat is fitted at the time of test so the rear belts cant be checked. (obviously not on a Z4)

So I'm happy with that.

I'd be a bit happier if he explained what it was he couldn't test though? The seat belt thing I can understand.....I've got away with dog-chewed rear seat belts (never used by humans) by taking the back seat out of a car and taking a "couldn't test" advisory, but this is potentially a bit more serious (or would confirm a bit of nitpicking.

I've had three MoTs and no such advisory?
 
Got the same advisory on my Porshe last week, I think it's really just to cover the MOT Tester, as due to the undertray he can't check all that he should.
 
I would expect an MOT to be carried out to a 'standard'. Clearly shows different treatment depending on the dealer or indy :(
