The Golf that is - 22 years old and not had an advisory ever :D

Besides plugs, tyres and oil / cam belt, the car has never had any work done besides a congested windscreen pump which I had never used but was picked up on a service that it has to work for an MOT and the replacement of the rubber brake hoses (plus the starter motor that Bing helped with last year as that was sticky).

Everything still works as new, including the hydraulic roof which at least is designed to have the works in a dry boot …

Loving the car - power steering would have been nice though.

Full VW service history as well, never been to any other garage. Guess it will be the only one in the world with a 100% VW dealer history

And, if you take off the return journey to the MOT station/garage, how many miles has it covered since its last MOT?

Can I give the 10 year figure as it will be easier to compute? :D

On average, servicing is £200 per year I would say with the MOT, the car was £10k 20 years ago so quite a way off yet

Now don't ask me to calculate the cost per mile though over that time ...

With no additional costs for the MOT then PVR, you will be able to splash out on a nice new Reg number for the Golf on Monday... PVR 1S is up for Auction...

My Z3 had its 11th MOT 2 weeks back so only a youngster :D but failed initially on corroded rear offside brake pipe but then the garage called me back to say they had a second look and realised it was Dinitrol underbody wax :headbang: Didn't stop them failing it on a binding rear caliper :(

Theres something to be said buying a cheapish car and keeping it indefinitely or for a long period of time.

I bought a Mazda 323 1.3 as an ex demo in 1985 for £6995 (Estoril Blue  ) and sold it in 2005 for £450 so it cost me £327.25 a year excluding tax/Ins and servicing but not bad value over 20 years. 68bhp single carburetor with manual choke, no power steering, wind up windows and push button radio :) It was nothing special but you knew it would start every time.

Some pics just before I sold it, kinda wished I'd hung onto it now as it never let me down and only needed a new battery and a light bulb over the 20 years. Can't recall when I last saw one on the road :)

Sometimes I'm quite tempted in buying something like a new Dacia Sandero or cheapest VW Up! and keeping it 10/15 years and run it into the ground but at the same time keeping it mint lol.

Tim.

The retro 80's car are starting to climb in value now, I do like my cars.
I have a Triumph GT6 mk3 1972 a Toyota MR2 MK2 1995 and now the Z4 as toys
also have a little fiesta diesel for general running around and a Nissan Terrano 4x4 for towing and a van for work.
God I need a bigger garden :)

It is a gorgeous car PVR, would live something like that with the same history (personal & service) that yours has
