Well the old girl got through her MOT today with flying colours. (No not the wife, the car). The pass is largely due to all the hard work bigwinn has put in since I bought the car. Thanks Stuart.

Jammy Gits!!!!!!!

Mine failed last week on a front shock and some bushes! £450 lighter! :headbang:

They don’t know what to charge now. I had an oil change and the MOT and it came to £231. I tried my usual ‘I am an OAP’ but with no luck.😉

Superb!

Like twins mine passed today too!

Glad all is well Ian!

If you hadn’t carried out all that preventative maintenance the result would have been very different.👍

Scottish tax

I had a service last week, oil, oil filter, cabin filter (all Mann) but no air filter for some reason. Supposedly checked tyre pressures and removed wheels to check brakes and pipes (who knows). £210.00, includes a new sump plug at £5.94

Mine is in December, I hope the suspension fails so I have an excuse to buy some new Bilstein's.

Always great when they sail through.

MrsG's Mx5 is in for a service plus MoT tomorrow.
Hope all goes well. I must admit to feeling a real sense of relief now that it has passed. 👍

Too true - it's always a relief when you get a Pass, especially if there are no advisories!

We are down to one car at the moment. Waiting for new Mini Countryman to arrive. So it was important that the Z passed the test.

Another new car! You seem to changing them more often than Pondrew.

I hope you don't have to wait too long for it.

No I can’t compete with Pondrew. I think he has access to unlimited funds. It’s a long story and I hadn’t planned to change the 330e Touring at this time. However, there were serious problems with it and BMW although having the car in on several occasions admitted they were struggling to fix it. They suggested at one point that they would need to keep the car for seven weeks. At that point we decided to say goodbye to it. The Countryman is due in December all being well.👍

IRD, what made you choose a Countryman?
Well it’s my good lady’s choice really. We were disappointed with the 330e and BMW’s inability to sort the problems. Plus now we have two small dogs and don’t need such a big car. We had a look at the Cupar Formentor and quite liked that but the interior finish wasn’t wonderful. We also looked at the 2 litreToyota Corolla Estate. But the earliest we could have one was March 23. We called in at the Mini showroom when collecting a part for the Z from BMW next door. They had a Cooper S Countryman with the Exclusive Plus pack on it and we tried it out and liked it. They also promised delivery of a new car before the end of December 22. In addition we were offered a loyalty bonus of £1000 having bought several BMWs. So the deal was signed.
I’ve not been a fan of the sales side of this BMW dealer in the past but the Mini Franchise next door has a better reputation. So hopefully all will be well. We go on holiday next week and were going to book a taxi to and from the airport at a cost of £200. I happened to mention this to the sales guy and he offered to loan me a car for the week. So a good start. Let’s just hope it continues.

I hope Martin helped??
Sadly no. Short of time due to going away. Tbh we knew the front right top mount had a bolt missing but thought that was all, though Brian suspected a couple of lower bushes needed doing. It was booked in the day after I changed the expansion tank.
I guess that is where my situation is limiting in time and facilities which is a bit frustrating.
