MOT Failed

Aargh! MOT Failed for the first time since I had the car.

Reasons for failure:

Nearside Front Suspension arm pin or bush excessively worn (5.3.4 (a) (i))
Offside Front Suspension arm pin or bush excessively worn (5.3.4 (a) (i))

Garage was unable to give me a quote for repairing this since they don't have the parts ?

Being mechanically illiterate, is this a big job?
 
Wifey's had the same thing this year.
Took the Indy's advice and replaced the complete wishbones both sides along with the lollipops as they were showing some signs of wear in the ball joints etc. and it seemed pointless to repeat the exercise later on, especially as, in my experience, if you replace one bush the next one up the chain soon gives up too.
I let them do it as I only have a gravel drive, plus it needed to go back to them for alignment afterwards anyway.
They also had some grief freeing off the track rods to do the alignment.
The bill to supply and fit all the parts, plus the alignment was a shade under £400. He used Delphi parts which he has good experience with. Mentioned Lemforder ones but he suggested the difference was slight, if any, for more cost.
 
Track rod ends are stupid design, a slot which allows the thread to rust.
I needed a blow touch and a water soaked rag to protect the ball to initially loosen.

Right on the money. That was done to the car , total came to £350 - MOT redone and passed :thumbsup:
