Just had my 2007 coupe mot and it failed on a couple of things. The one I'm
Struggling with is "near side front position lamp adversely affected by the
Operation of another lamp". I assume this is loose wiring. Any advice would be very
Gratefully received.

I am not sure if the position lamp is the side light or the indicator... However if the side light bulb is out then when you put the side lights on ONLY the indicator comes on as a constant glow. Supposed to be a safety feature I think, 'replacing' the side light... Bloody stupid if you ask me. I think the indicator reverts to normal if you then put the headlights on. Do you have the bulb out warning on the dash when the lights are on ? I had a loose bulb fitting and this happened.
As above though - go back to the MOT tester, they have to tell you what it is and how to fix it ! Though perhaps they are not knowledgeable about BMW and are confused... Leading to the random grouping of unhelpful words that spearman refers to
My guess would probably be a bad earth, put the fog lights on and then turn all your other lights on 1 at a time and see what happens. It might be it just dims when the dipped lights are on or something like that.
^^^ What Richard says. They are referring to the lamp in the far corner of the headlight assembly which should light uniformly in all conditions. The indicators are along the bottom.
