Well after crawling under the car for myself I'm happy to report that although there was a fair amount of corrosion on the pipes, with some fairly gentle rubbing down they are back in top condition. 8)

Johnny did you use a wire brush. Mine has failed for the same.

Wire brush, steel wool then finished with a scouring pad. Came up a treat.

Excellent, did you put anything like waxoil or grease on them? otherwise you could be in the same situation next year
