MOT Day

Another year another MOT day and with only an additional 1364 miles to add to last years certificate it sailed thro.
Total covered in four years 12.7k.

This years particularly low use is down to the Covid - being locked down has prevented a couple of UK trips and our usual German trip.

I should think there will be quite a few low mileages this year Ron. Nice when you get the ticket though

The car also had a full service - This one was the big service they said and it included a full set of spark plugs - I don’t think plugs were needed at 12.7k ? The service dept said they were time dependant. I I’ve never heard that before.
Fortunately I coughed up £525 for the 5yr service pack when I bought it as this service would have cost me nearly £600 I’m told.

I can see why BMW don’t offer a 5yr plan with current prices.

Why in gods name do you take your car to BMW for basic work like this !!!!!!!

It still had the residue of the service plan and I’ve got a BMW insured Warranty.
I know that works can be completed at any garage using BMW parts and standards but I don’t want an argument in the event of a claim.

That is not many miles covered in a year. I have done well over two thousand since I got mine in July. I love it.

Its shameful!
I normally tax it at the start of March each year and use it to the end of October. Under normal circumstances it gets UK trips away and one Euro trip - but being an over 70 diabetic trips out were low on the list of must do's!
The usual usage for the Z is about 4k and the the 335 is about 5k.

That is one ticket it's good to get.

I think my mileage will be an all time low this year too. :(

Respect! Over 70. I hope I will be the same. 57 now.

Good for you ronk - keep playing!

I took my daily for an MOT last week and it hadn't done 4K miles since its test last year.

Pre-Covid my daily usually did 7K a year and my Z4 around 4K, but my Z4 hasn't got to 1,500 miles since last December. :headbang:

Anyway with a service plan in force it makes perfect sense to me to stick to main agents - I always did when I had cars with the service plan and a warranty!

Hopefully you'll be able to get out and about a bit more now restrictions are slowly being lifted. :driving:

I’ve just picked up this thread again after a few days.
There are quite a few of us codgers about - if I’d had a car with 340 Bhp in my more youthful days I probably wouldn’t be here to tell the tale!

My main problem is getting out of the car when I can’t get the door wide open. I’ve got a pair of dodgy/ wobbly legs so qualify for a blue badge - I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been challenged for parking in a limping bay - especially so in Germany.

MoT yesterday. In the preceding 364 days, I did 10,066 miles. The virus has been a good reason to do plenty of self-isolated driving for fun.

I shall be picking up a another car next week. BMW told me they stopped doing the 5 year service pack (which included MoT guarantee) in 2018 which is bad news, it was a great option for longer term ownership. It's pay as you go now!

I have the memory seats set at two positions. One for driving and one for getting out/ getting in. Getting out/in is all the way back. :) I have arthritis and my ankles and knees don't flex like they should.
