MOT and aftermarket HID'S.

MOT expires monday and I haven't taken my HID's out. Has anyone passed an MOT with them?

I have headlamp washers if that makes a difference.

supposed to be going in for the MOT tomorrow and removing them in the rain is not something I want to do, if possible.

My mot guy said, he doesn't check whether they are hids or not if the lights come on and angled correctly, its a pass, but I guess it depends on whos checking it.

Cheers lads. Done some research online and it seems that they should give 'benefit of the doubt' if they can't easily tell if it has a self levelling system.

the z4 auto levels on dipped beam anyway, so this could possibly be seen as 'self levelling'.

I've been so worried about a 5mm long crack on my windscreen that I forgot to order the osram bulbs I wanted :(

hopefully it'll pass. They're 6000k and don't appear to blind other road users.

I'll update tomorrow anyway.

Any mot man worth his salt will spot Hid . Law says must have wash/wipe and self level (and it's so easy to spot yes really) . Just remove them and stick ordinary bulb in its not hard to do . From memory became law may 2012 . Having said that English mot is very laxed compared to here in NI .

It is hard to do when they're wired in, its raining and the mot is tomorrow. I also can't get access from the wheel arch due to the car being lowered, so it's a bumper and lights off job.

theres a lot of stuff online that says its not a definite that they fail because of th3 bulb alone. They just need wash/wipe and self levelling for eu type approval.

Is the crack in eye view?

Dude stop worrying. 99 times out of 100 it will pass, especially as you have headlamp washers. Any car with projector lenses where the tester can't see the bulb generally passes.

Plus my brother has an e46 with stock xenon but no washers - 2002 model - it was built that way and has never had any mot trouble in 5 years.

I forgot that the bulb couldn't be seen from the outside  cheers man, only worrying as it's my dad taking it in for me whilst I'm working. Didn't want it coming back as a fail and leave him stranded

Well, it passed! All that worrying over nothing.
That's good news as I've been reluctant to put my bulbs in before the mot is due. Trouble is the standard halogens are dangerously weak :(

They are indeed.

I'm now debating on whether to upgrade to better halogen bulbs by osram/philips or get some 4300k hid's (don't like the colour the 6000k's I have give off).
