They need the wind in their hair to show off how their hairstyle stays in place in the most extreme conditions.

And well Pediphiles wouldn't want the kids screaming out the open top

With the top down you could do drive-by abductions much more simply and as the child thinks you're a hairdresser they won't scream as much anyway
