Most striking mods...

So, I have the 17's as seen on the roadster on the top banner of this forum... but i really like the 5 spoke 108's and also the elipsoid (is that how you say it?).

I think the Z4 is one of those cars where the type of wheel makes such a massive difference. For this reason, i will replace my 17's for 18's and may even lower it a little bit. Its almost a given that I will be getting rid of the RFT's too.

So lowering on nice wheels... what else should i do? Clear indicator, rear lights, 3rd brake light etc is on the cards.

Any more cheapish visually appealing mods worth doing?

Looking at clear fronts before, for the xenons they are £600 ish!

That is most definitely not cheap! Clear rears, sides, 3rd brake light etc would be a nice mod, saw one this morning in my colour with these mods and what looked like E46 M3 rims, looked ace.

Aero kit skirts, M bumper, spoiler, M badges :poke: :poke: , uhm her...

I have probably made more external mods to a UK model than anyone and learnt a lot on the way, so a couple of comments:
1) keep it subtle as mentioned above
2) IMHO to a theme. What are you creating a classic looking roadster, a track wannabe, an actual track car, stealth, etc.
3) know where you want to end up even if you never make it
4) Decide if a mod suits your colour - not all suit all
5) Post you ideas to the board before you do anything. The advise really helps

You don't say if you have pre or post facelift but I'll guess 'pre'

These are the external ones I've done:
Cheap

Side clears
Clear rear
Stubby aerial
Cut down number plate
Puddle lights
Painted calipers and silver clips
CF decals on bonnet, boot, sides and wheels (plus steering wheel)

Expensive
108's starspoke - amazing, but the Elipsoids were up there too (BTW I have a spare set of 108's!!!)
Facelift front - freshens the whole car in conjunction with:
Clear lights
Hardtop for UK Winters - 2nd car for 5 months!!

Others that I have not done
Change grille
aero kits, spoilers, diffusers, etc.
4 port exhausts

Now go figure how much you can afford what you like, etc. and wonder how you will ever do it. :)

Your car looks fantastic, love it. I love the wheels.

Theres a guy on here who has just sold his car and still has the clear rears/sides etc left over, i have PM'd him but got no reply.

The clear fronts are horrendously expensive so i cant see that ever happening.

I've always been a fan of subtle OEM looking mods, so that is all i would ever do to my car.

I didn't mod my E46 at all, didnt think it was worth it but the focus i had prior to the E46...

Smartened it up without making it look stupid.

I need at some stage to sort out a bluetooth system in it - probably go with Parrot - and also need to add the aux in.

Thanks for the comments re the car. :)
You can get the clears from a dealers. IMHO it's not worth getting a second hand rear as they have a propensity to crack at the ends. If perfect and a good price then OK. New about £40 +VAT. Sides - not got a price.

Good morning,

IMHO, debadging is the least expensive mod. Some dental floss/tape, WD40 to remove the access adhesive and little polish and you're cleaned up nicely.

Happy motoring! :driving:
