I disagree and I think that's fell under the category of my original rant. I could buy a new car now, store it dry and make sure i spared no expense and that wouldn't make any difference to the value. Loads of car owners will do that, not cut corners on maintenance. Why does it make it any more special and in fact increase the value of the car just because you've seen the owner on tv?? What if the ad said Harry Johnson owned the car previously, a retired stock broker from Swindon, his family and friends know he looks after his cars so they put that in ad and use that to add thousands to the value.... total nonsense and I refer back to my original point! :? These stupid rumours and hear say statements should not impact how much Joe Public pays for a car, but some moronic mook will buy it based on that wanting an empty claim to fame.

.I'm sure the dealer is trying to cash in from the celebrity status of it's previous owner but from a buyers perspective and disregarding that, it's owner is known for being a car enthusiast, storing cars correctly and being real an*l about their condition. I saw one of his previous cars up for sale recently, an old E30 M3 and it looked in very very good nick.
I wouldn't want to pay a celebrity status price for it but if a similar car was up for sale for similar price I would prefer this one.
Bit like buying a members car on this forum really? Does being a member here really make a difference on how well a car is maintained ? It does mean it has a more known history. If a forum member had a great reputation, we'd all rather buy that than some unknown car on autotrader for same price with unknown owner.
I think the Jay Kay info on the advert is just putting across a fact of who the car was previously owned by, not to try and command more money. That fact may make it more appealing to some and less to others as it seems to have shown here in this discussion.
This car will sell around this price IMO but will take a while. Lets not forget that Hexagon sold a Imola Red MC last year with 1,800 miles on it for £40k.

The Jay Kay thing wound me up because it was mentioned before any other of the details. I'll openly admit I have a massive attitude problem towards stuff like that :|
One does have to also wonder in a warehouse packed with Ferraris, Lambos, Bentleys, Astons, cars with alloys that cost likely more than this MC, is he really going to have singled this one out for love and care or have staff pamper to it as much as the rest. Or was left in the corner of the warehouse to deteriorate. Who knows, who cares. IMHO the car would have been more appealing had it not been advertised as owned by a guy who has nothing to lose by hurling cars around a track. The guy likely has a substantially bigger care free attitude towards possessions, you can I guess believe that or believe what's printed in newspapers... which is obviously all factual :?

Not sure on that, I think it only enhances the 'story' of the car...which is always a key element of any 'classic' car sale (or any item really). Although, are there any images of him ever driving the car?
I get that bit, but imo anyone who genuinely feels like that piece of information is an enhancement to car is delusional.
