Most expensive MC?

And was for sale somewhere else before the current dealer for some grand less -5?
JayKay is known for looking after his cars - wouldnt betoo surprised if many rubber parts or other parts that age are already replaced. Still a lot of money though.

Yeh was £4k cheaper when at 4star

Not the most expensive of recent times though. Hexagon had one up last year at £40k

Yes but then you still believe Z4Ms are depreciating, so we'll take your opinion with a pinch of salt :poke:

Also, FYI, here's an 8 year old car with similar mileage which is much, much more expensive :P

I find it patronising and somewhat condescending that they're using the previous ownership by 'Jay Kay' as being the primary selling point of the car, that's mentioned before any of the actual need-to-know facts. Some muppet will fall for it and think they're getting a slice of impeccable celebrity memorabilia making this a super-machine, but to me it means absolutely nothing and only serves to wind me up that this garage believe him owning the car makes it better than any other car Mr Joe Public might have owned.
But that's just me :? I detest the superiority complex/higher being associated with celebrities... especially washed up 90's has-beens with little man syndrome :headbang:
/rant over

A seven year old car with low mileage is asking for trouble especially if it's only been used for short journeys . I would be concerned about degraded items and stagnant mechanicals .Cars like the benefit from being driven on a more regular basis . So I fail to see how it merits what is clearly a silly price . It's not like it's a classic car after all . As for it being jay Kay's car , I can't see how that is of any relevance to the asking price .

I totally agree. If it's going to go into a collection, and will never be used, I can see the point of buying, what is essentially, an unused 7 yr old car.

However, anyone planning to actually drive the car, would suffer a massive £££ hit by the time they've driven to the shops and back and doubled the mileage on it...

Very well specced and a lovely colour too, plus with that mileage it does make it very desirable...if I had a lottery win that would be the type of example I would go for.

I wonder whether the warranty would be more expensive on this than on a 50k example?
I would have thought age is taken into account too but would still expect it to be more expensive on a 50k car that would be also around the same age.
I doubt the buyer of this would want an extended warranty anyway other than for the first year. Stumping up £34k for an old car I'm sure they have deep pockets to pay for any maintenance required on it which would likely be the cheaper option anyway than having a warranty.

Nrossy, agree about celebs but in this case it does add some value to the car. He is a car nut, he does store them properly and spares no expense on maintenance, apparently.

Has been for sale for ages now through one of two dealers so not a great demand for it.

and that is the problem with this car. Most people looking to buy a Z4MC are looking to drive them. Drive this and watch the value rapidly come down

I guess there could be some BMW collector out there that will buy this at that money, but that could take some time. If I was the dealer, I'd rather it had 40k miles on it as it would sell pretty easily.

True but even with higher miles these are now holding their values pretty good or at least no worse than buying a new performance car of a similar value. Some may just prefer a car that's hardly been driven - even if they intend to put the miles on.
Buy this or a new M235i and in 3 years with say 35k miles on both, what would their values be? Some would prefer the new M235 i regardless of the outcome on resale value, others the Z4 M

The M3 I was considering for a change hads done <5k miles and lost £34k in two years -wow! This car couldn't do that. Someone will eventually buy it

If this was priced around the Sytner Sepang car (overpriced IMO) I'd be interested :)

Very true, buying this and using it, would probably be similar, or better, than the depreciation of a new car of similar value.

Think the Sytner Sepang example has now sold....gorgeous car, although to sell at that price with relatively low spec is testament to the strength of the market currently.

That's what I paid for mine in 2007 with the same mileage on it. It's way too pricy but has to be worth somewhere in the 20s surely.

I know. The spec was good for me although would have prefered a few cheapo option changes, ie sun protection glass and folding mirrors, rather than the CD changer :). I was hoping it would have dropped a bit
Goes to show being contrarian can be a good idea when it comes to car buying. When new Sepang was not a very liked option. So used about a year or two old was probably a good price for a sepang car. With no more being made and now a rare colour, it might command a higher price. Still a colour many might not be able to live with but quite like it myself but only with the champagne or light sepang interior (which this car had)
