Morning all...

No safety net needed. The line to cut to is even on the inside of the moulding...Nice when BMW make it easy

i found that if you mask it with sparky tape and dremmel to between .5-1mm inside of the line you will get a better fit.

Stubby Aerial fitted this afternoon, which even cleared up my AM reception issue :)

I've got my Alpine KCA-420i sat here and the Intravee is in the post. Still waiting for the call from the dealers about my MFSW controls, but I'll chase them tomorrow and probably order the Cruise Control switch at the same time.

I plan on removing the foam from the Sound Generator at the weekend, and fit the 420 and Intravee.

EDIT: Just rang to chase the stealer and they hadn't even placed the order for the MFSW controls... I have now placed that order, and added the Cruise Control switch to the invoice.

Right, last weekend I removed the foam from the Sound Generator, but it was far too loud for me (and not a right note) without it so I cut the larger section and replaced half, it's virtually back to stock now, I doubt you'd notice a difference from standard.

I fitted the Intravee (plus Alpine KCA-420i) in the week and everything is working fine (after an update of the firmware and change to a different User Mode for the Business CD headunit). It's all installed in the boot, with the Intravee situated where the CD changer would normally be, and the KCA-420i + 80GB iPod positioned in the battery well. I'm a little frustrated with not having a Nav Screen now, but I think that mod is a little too costly for me at the moment (wedding next year).

I just fitted the Cruise Control and MFSW controls this morning and both work perfectly. I bought the CC switch and got the dremel out first thing and cut the cowling, Everything is back together and you'd never know they weren't standard 8) This will be the first car I've had with Cruise Control but it's a great price for a feature that a lot of people can't live without (so they say  ).

Next on the list will be red/clear rear lights (removing the amber), and blue tooth phone prep (probably a parrot). Hopefully something can be sorted with the Group Buy discussions soon :)

Hey TH3R4POR

I’am a total newbie but here is a picture of my install if its any good for you, I was going to get the BMW retrofit kit installed but after talking to a friend of mine he fit me a PARROT MKi9100 for £180.00 all in.

Its great for what I wanted it to do I Apart from the Bluetooth hands free I can use AUX, USB, Iphone, Ipod.. and even charge my kit from the USB connection, I wanted it to be as hidden as possible so I asked him to place it in the ashtray were it fits perfectly, the voice dial and controls work really good compared to most systems I have used in the past and the sound quality is great, I’am sure its not the nest system on the market but its versatile and very flexible solution for the money.

If you have a MFSW you can even get a box to link it to the controls but I took them off mine as I like the wheel to be clean!

That looks cool no1son 8)

Hiding it like you have is definitely the the way to go, I like it :)

There was talk of a potential Group Buy for Parrot kits, and they seem to get great reviews so that is probably the way I will go, cheers for the pics :D

I just fitted the chrome and black grilles Klarky sold me 8)

He posted them on Saturday morning and they arrived Monday morning, Royal Mail seem to work better when no one is there!

A belated welcome ... you seem to be finding your way around very well.

Thank you :)

I like the tippy tappy noises my keyboard makes so tend to type too much, as you'll discover

edit: Excellent avatar by the way Spokey ;)

Well, I better bump this 5+ year old thread and say I sold the sunshine car, I haven't been as active recently on here as have had my hands full with work and a little nipper in the last year, hence the sale of the Zed for a more 'practical' car (in the sense it has 2 more seats, 2 more cylinders :driving: and a larger boot).

Oh, a couple of things (Intravee and Parrot) I have listed on eBay - http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=75910&p=1115426#p1115426.

Cheers all, I'll loiter around, but Zed's dead (gone).

Cheers again,

Dave
