Morgan experiences anyone?

Don't take the pi55, this is a serious question, well kind of!

I've been giving thought to getting a bit more hardcore with the ragtop thing, and at the risk of ending up as a fecking Biggles lookalike (although it would be good to find another use for that gimp hood I got for Xmas from my missus? would I need to cut holes in it or something??), I'm looking sideways at the Morgan, either as a summer ride (buying early second hand) or as an all-year rounder (at least when the 4x4 isn't out!) - keeping the Zed for when my spine needs a rest! :o

Anyone got any first hand experiences they care to share, good or bad?

I'm open-minded about engine, other than that it would be good to have one

If I were going more hardcore I'd stick to Lotus, TVR, AC replica, etc. depending on what I wanted to achieve.

Never driven one so can't comment on the experience but they do seem to be ex RAF, wicker picnic baskets and a jolly god day out. Fashioned out of sheet alluminium and a nice ash frame.

Morgan are spiffing good cars of course and they must be doing something right as they still have an 18 month waiting list for new.

Now the Aero GT Cup and GT3 cars are a different animal and to die for. I regularly drool over them in the pits when they're racing :)

Certain Morgan's are great and i've been tempted in the past too. You really need to do your homework and find the right car and spec for you. It's easy to get too much chrome and look like Biggles, as you say, but they also do much more aggressive colour coded models. The Aero is very cool too.

One thing which is in their favour is their ultra slow depreciation and relative simplicity. Good cars to own i'd imagine.

The Morgan dealer in Scotland is a well known guy called Russel Paterson (RP Morgan) and he's very knowledgeable.

Bought my 1st, 2nd, 4rd and 4th Porsches from him in his previous incarnation as a Porsche specialist.

This, for example, is very cool indeed.

unfortunately i have. my old boss had one, he kept going on about it and threatening to take me for a test drive.

Cant rememeber the model type, it had a mondeo engine and was made out of wood?. i couldnt wait to get out, i opened the glove box and could see the timber frame ! the windows had these slider things glued on as if it was made for somebody's school project. I hated it.

He used to take the pi$$ out of my car at the time (Audi TT) and i used to tell him to go 'varnish' his car.....

Z4, Morgan... is there some of phallic long-bonnet thing going on here?

Not sure how cheap a Morgan would be to run, say it’s not cheap to help my cause... if you looking for something with an edge, considered a classic 911 – 3.2 SuperSport (SSE widebody) with G50 gearbox and Fuchs alloys? Roof is a little pram like, but then again so is the Morgan!
Am constantly tempted but am a little too scared to take the plunge myself TBH! If you wouldn’t mind buying this one (coupe I know) so I can enjoy, vicariously, classic 911 ownership at £0!

Thanks in advance

Remember sitting in a Morgan way back not easy to get in and out of would not like to have to get out in a hurry but having said that always liked them and really like the new models.

This is nice
