More sound from a 2.0i

Hi all,
I've had my 2.0i for almost a year now (bought from the forum) and am quite happy with it so far. Apologies as I haven't posted before or put up pics etc yet.
However I'd like to get more sound from it. I've tried searching through the forums and could not get too much info.

Would straight piping/back box delete be the way to go?
Anyone able to suggest a custom exhaust job on a budget?
Any other suggestions?

Many thanks for reading and look forward to your replies

Kind regards
Rick

Hi Rick,

I have a 2.0 e85 and generated a nice deep grunt by making a induction kit as you can’t seem to buy them off the shelf.

This sounds pretty good for a 4 banger: https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=110125

It's a backbox mod that involves some removal of silencing material. The reputation of the person that did it is either hanging in the balance or totally down the sh!tter now, depending on who you talk to, but the mod itself remains a cheap and effective one.

You could always upgrade to a bigger engine which would involve selling yours and getting a 2.5 or 3.0. That'd give you more noise!

Sorry couldn't resist.

Has anyone mentioned sticking a turbo in it'd make the car faster than a speeding bullet and it's never been done successfully as far as we know! :fuelfire:

I'll get my coat.

Some say he was crazy, others say he was unlucky, some even say he only existed in the minds and postings of forum admins.

Others might say he never existed at all and it was all a dream.

Whatever you end up believing, comedy gold, tragedy, soap saga or something else he will always be a legend whether he existed or not.

Use the search above for turbo Z4!

Jonny Essex had an e85, and a whole lot of anguish to go with it

Well I know that if I got home with a bottle of Burgundy that wasn't Red I wouldn't be happy!

Anyway back on the original topic I suppose a back-box delete might work, but didn't someone fairly recently get a 4 tail-pipe system on his 2.0 litre?

Thanks for the replies folks

R60BBA - Budget is around £200

Mr PT - That does indeed sound good and heard good things about that particular member's exhaust mod for the 4 pot. But yes, unfortunately I've seen the latest thread too. Does anyone else offer a similar service?

Synthedup - That does seem quite interesting. Sorry to sound thick, but how would one go about making the kit? Sadly I'm useless with a spanner, but willing to research. Can it be done with my budget? A video of the results would be great to share with the forum

At that budget I’d recommend a backbox delete.

However be prepared for drone.

Do a search for proflow exhausts, =180 quid fitted.
Based in brierley hill West Midlands
Seen on eBay but the do have a website, got no idea what it might sound like though.

Appreciate the suggestion nonetheless

A little late to the party with this one. But I did the back box delete on my 2.0 about two and a half years ago and absolutely love it. It’s loader than normal, and often gets mistaken for a 3.0, and I don’t have any issue with drone. Although that’s probably personal preference isn’t it.

Here’s a little sound clip I did. It’s on an iPhone 5 so sound doesn’t really do it justice.

Cost £180 if I remember correctly. So in budget. Do it, do it. It’s fun :D
