More oil reading conundrums.

I know I posted before on this subject but I have still to become altogether completely comfortable with a lack of dipstick. Here's the latest pic from this evening. https://flic.kr/p/GvNZso
Last night there were no dashes between the brackets. Confused.

BTW. We have only had the car two weeks and the previous owner was so confident in the digital readout that they never added oil in two years. Scary, I know.

I know. It just says Oil on the right. It has never said Oil Ok. This is what concerns me. The manual is vague and I believe there is an audible and visual warning on turning the key when extra oil is required.

Id be more concerned it hadnt had oil change in 2 years  regardless of miles covered id get it done now confident its fresh oil at the right level then monitor regularly & see how it goes :?

No dipstick? :o

Will that be the same on my si ????????

:D yeah mate :P

WTF.

Does the si drink as much oil as the prefacelift? Never really checked my oil level that often before I got my last Z but the rate it went through it I couldn't risk not checking

When you push the button it should cycle along the graduations until it is ready to make a reading. It needs to be up to temperature and on level ground to make a reading, so you need to take it on a good run first.

If it detects low at the end of a journey you'll get a noise and yellow oil lamp. At some point after that you'll get a +1L message.

Two years is what the schedule says is the max time interval. Mr Wilks and I are both of the opinion this is too long (for me the distance massively).
I currently run 1 year/8k miles max with the aim of 7.5k intervals - I'd definitely not want to go past 10k. Whenever I drop the oil myself it is always perfect at the end - on the two occasions I have paid to have an oil change the level has been wrong.

Checking is easy but takes some getting used to - and you have to trust the level is correct initially. The only instance I have had of oil consumption was when the CCV was on the way out. No issues since I replaced it.
