More dodgy advertising on AutoTrader

Here's the 3.0Si auto that I sold this time last year with the number plate that I put on it. Apparently it's been almost all its life in this guys family and the radio was installed professionally, nice compliment but I installed it as a complete amateur. The roof motor was already in the boot and sorted so I'm struggling to see where £6K was spent on it recently. Buyer beware has never been more relevant......

Yes there’s another car a 2009 e89 35i in white with red seats being sold for £10500. Has non M-Sport seats and a cat D. In the description it says “dent free, no prangs”. What the ****! Since DVLA no longer disclose the last owners details on the V5 he will probably make up some story about how it belong to his brother then his wife and then his son and now his with no way to verify it!

When did that change? I was about to say the buyer could find out from the v5 but clearly not. Are many new car sales folk much different to be honest? They will often tell you what they think you want to hear and slip in misguiding snippits, to help a sales along, if they are confident the buyer won't notice them.

Worth pointing the facts out to Autotrader, justvto clear your conscience. But as always it is buyer beware.

Good work folks, some very funny replies. The original plate is WP06LUY, I've told autotrader about the ad. Here's a picture of her sat in the Makro car park in Sheffield this time last year. More pictures of the engine bay are available on request

As my Dad always says (grumpy, cynical old man that he is) you should ignore 99.9% of a car advert, and just go on what you can see in front of you when you view it.

To be honest, even if I hadn't seen this thread and knew it was made up, the description just puts me off. It reads as though he was inspired by a stereotypical 1980's used car salesman in a TV sitcom.

My particular favorite is "lovely quiet engine." followed by "Sounds awesome" later in the ad.
