Finally got my car in to have the alarm fixed. Was told it was the main interior module triggering the random false alerts and that it needed replacing. This was going to cost me £250 so not the end of the world I thought. The guys at Elite Autoworks just phoned me to say that the siren module is also faulty and in need of replacement! So it is now going to be a total of £460 to fix my damn alarm
