Money Grabbing Local Council

So today i recived a nasty letter in the post ... a Pentaly Charge Notice :headbang: £65 brillent

Prohibited Right Turn - is what i got done for, but the road is a road that is only open to buses between 6am and 10am after 10 anyone can go through. the time of the offence is 09:58

So first off i think £65 is excessive, espically for under 2 minuets
Also, i remember saying to the passenger i had "oh 10:05, do you think we will be ok to go that way?" and we both thought yes

Its quite clearly a money making scheme, as the road also had those bollards that rise out of the ground, and i didnt hit them so i assumed it was after 10

i have thought about that, but for it to get dragged out and them to say the time is 09:58 and that is before 10 lol

they clearly have no morals and are just out to fleece anybody with any amount of money, any normal person would say your two minetes to early mate

AMEN mr Wilks

very true, if i was to take my number plates off all i risk is a £60 fine. So i would be up £5 already plus the parking ticket I got outside my own house 5 minetes into the the parking restriction just as i was going to move it, so thats £70 up

The council's seem to be lawless, unregulated and have no morals. All they are concerned about is making money out of trival and minor infridgments of things

Hmm - if they have the time on the penalty then you are bang to rights BUT. . .
it would be worth making an appeal (do this via email) on several grounds...

The closeness to 10am arguing that your intention was not deliberate
Your perception of time and the comments made by your passenger in that you thought it was past 10
The lack of the posts which you took to mean that the road was open to other traffic

I would suggest that you be apologetic (do make an apology for your action), polite and supportive to the road management system in your appeal and keep it straightforward

THEN The important thing is NOT TO GIVE UP when your first appeal is returned unsuccessfully - their response will state that no further appeal can be made BUT GOES ON TO SAY unless there are new factors to consider - SO keep writing back and offering further insights as to why you feel the fine is unfair - saying this is the first time you have ever been fined and using all above each time - keep responding by email with new appeals - traffic confusion and congestion, confusion of signage - you get the idea. It is unlikely that you will be excused the first appeal or second but if you can be bothered to take the time to keep responding then you may find they relent.

If you can be bothered it is worth a try - I have been successful with a couple of similar fines in the past which I have felt were unreasonable. But I do suggest you remain polite and apologetic throughout and accept you were in the wrong - you have got to appeal to their better side give them an excuse to drop the fine and not give up over their initial responses - I think they will simply ignore a stroppy and cocky letter.

Have a go and good luck with it :driving:

I go to london twice a month, and have had numerous pcns whilst driving parking and unloading all innocent mistakes through ignorance (being from cornwall ) where we rarely have box junctins bus lanes or permit holder parking bays, just going about my business trying to earn an honest living, and feeling just like you have been absolutely MUGGED . proper criminals meanwhile go about their business virtually unobstructed or challenged. typical council and local government policy go for the easy target of honest middle class hard working taxpayers, because they know they will generally roll over pay up and shut up,...........well soon, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon , maybe we will wake up and say ,"NO!" , and then ,... then AAAAAGGGGGGHHHHH fucking look out ! remember ,all rambo wanted was to be left alone!!!! :headbang: :tumbleweed:

My wife got a fine for driving in a bus lane which she would never do. On seeing the cctv 'evidence' she was turning left and clipped the end of a bus lane with her two nearside wheels. £60 penalty fine on a clear road, no congestion, no buses. Lifes too short to get wound up about it, its just money grabbing LA where ever they can get an easy buck :(

Thanks, Sounds like a good plan

And for those who are intrested here is the road, notice sign on the left

I would of preffered to have been mugged, at least i could of let em have one

This is the equivlent of haveing you card details stolen lol

Looking at the signage on the road I'd mention there is a lot of information to take in on the signs, there are multiple exits and access points opposite which have to be watched and checked at the same time as reading sign and it looks like there is a crossing or the like just before the junction (road markings) which could lead to distractions - it can be argued its a busy piece of road. . . use all these in your subsequent appeal emails.

Thanks

Also the building site to the right is a nuisance as al the lorries que on the road and its choas
