Mold on convertible roof

My third post as I spend some time focused on my wife’s Z. This has been an ongoing problem for years - one last shot before I consider replacing the canvas.

The car sits outside (garage is taken up by my 2 vintage corvettes). It has mold growth on the roof. I’ve tried convertible top cleaner (303) without success. I’m considering having the canvas replaced, but it’s still waterproof, The top also needs a motor or some other repair. The top replacement will likely run $3K - so I’m trying to avoid a total hit of $4-5K if I can avoid it.

I’ve read posts on using a soft Powerwash, but I’m concerned about doing more damage.

Does anyone have a tried and true method to remove mold from the roof?

Milton Sterilising tablets are recommended on here for cleaning and killing the mold. It works, but you will have to treat it multiple times.

Once it's mostly gone, treat the roof with Fabsil. That waterproofs and the oils and also helps stop it coming back.

I see Steramine tablets and Milton Sterilizing liquid on Amazon - but no Milton tabs. Any experience with either of these?

I've used the Milton liquid before, worked fine diluted. I would guess that anything similar would work, that is mild enough not to remove the colour / damage paint etc. Hopefully some others will chime in :)

abar121 - thanks. I had hoped others would comment but so far no luck.

If I purchase the liquid - how much did you dilute it?

I had used the tablets: https://www.boots.com/Milton-Sterilising-Tablets-40pack-
Here's some more details: https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1892600

I use Milton Sterilising Fluid, the instructions say 3 caps of fluid in 5 litres of water but I tweaked that to 1 cap in 1.25 litres of water in a viton sprayer. I leave it to soak for 30 mins and scrub with a plastic dish washing brush with no negative effects. If it starts drying I just spray more on. The next step should be not parking below trees but I don't listen to the voices in my head.

I had mould growing up all around the bottom seal on mine. I just squirted milton fluid neat straight from the bottle all round the seal and left it :o

This was 2 years ago, the roof never discoloured and the mould disappeared and never came back. :)

I ordered the Milton liquid. Should arrive in a couple of days. I’ve inspected the seal - it’s pretty gunned up with moldy sludge and will get a lot of attention. I’ll take some before and after photos to post to show results.
